Yup, you do need a sturdy tripod, but sturdy doesn’t always mean heavy. Joby JB01507 GorillaPod 3K Kit comes in at only 13.8 ounces but can hold your device weight up to 6.6 pounds. This is perfect if you need to hike up mountains or take long walks to get your shot since it will not give your shoulder pain.

Surprisingly lightweight and very sturdy. This tripod is particularly useful for photographing landscape scenes outdoors.

Solid, sturdy and lightweight. Beautiful tripod and worth it. No issues so far while using it for Astro rigs and salty landscapes. Highly recommend this one expensive tripod vs 3-4 cheaper tripods. If you are on the fence, do it. Great product.

If you are a big camera user with heavy lenses, this product is made for you. Manfrotto 190go! is remarkably robust that it can hold device up to 26.4 lbs or 12 kg. That’s the largest capacity that can be accommodated by a tripod on this list. The bubble head works well to prevent uneven pans and head movements.

As good as it gets for a travel tripod. The head seems a tad underwhelming but it does the trick. I can mount a D810 with a 70-200 without issue in both landscape and portrait.
