Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Have you known these things?
What is food photography?
From the name, you might guess that food photography is a branch of photography that focuses on creating attractive still life photographs of food. You are correct! Generally, this type of photography made for commercial purposes is used in magazines, menus, recipe books, advertisements, and so on.
What to look for when buying tripod?
First, choose one with high stability because that's the reason why a video tripod exists until now. Second, consider the material. If you want a lighter one, you can choose one made from carbon fiber. If you want a sturdier one, choose aluminum. Furthermore, the durability is so that you don't buy multiple times. The rest is on you.
What are the advantages of using a tripod?
To take long exposure shots, you have to make sure the shutter is open for at least a couple of seconds with steady. That would be difficult without the aid of a tripod. You can also shoot a video with you in it at overhead, eye level, or, low angle with ease. Get a selfie without the arm-stretch, especially if your hands aren't long enough to capture the beautiful scenery behind you. Lastly, you can try a timelapse.
What is the best tripod for me?
There are numerous factors that influence a tripod to be the best. First, from the product itself, of course, the material, stability, and other features. Meanwhile, no matter how great the quality is, it is not necessarily suitable for you. It depends on what terrain you use it, for professional or casual photos, you need a very expandable or pocket-sized one, the answer is on you.
10 Reviews: Best Tripods for Food Photography (Jul 2021)
One of the best angles for photographing food is top-down, especially if all the detail is on top. This Vanguard Alta Pro 263AT Aluminum Tripod will help you do it effortlessly. Its hexagon-shaped central column moves from 0 to 180 degrees, letting you shoot from various points of view, including top-down. Your object will look even more tantalizing.
This tripod is awesome. Solid with fluid, smoothly telescoping legs. Lightweight but robust and able to achieve overhead food shots with ease. Versatile must have tool for photographers, for studio or on the go.

Next, we have a tripod from Neewer that comes with its rotatable center column. Rotate the center column 360 degrees horizontally to help you take pictures over the food. It extends up to 191 cm and is able to accommodate weights of up to 26.5 lbs. This tool is portable with a carrying bag, keep it from being damaged.
One of the best tripods I've ever used. Given all the features of this thing, it's definitely worth the price. The center extension arm is great, especially if you're doing over the top shots of food.
|Dimensions||20.9 x 5.3 x 4.9 in|
|Item Weight||5.2 lbs|
|Max. Height||75 in|
If you are looking for a tripod that is lightweight but able to accommodate heavy loads, leave it to the Sirui ET-2204. Using carbon fiber material makes it only weigh 1.5lbs but able to hold loads up to 26.5lbs. It lets you flip the legs up 180 °, which means the tripod can be folded significantly small.
Just received this tripod and my initial impression is very favorable. It’s well built, smooth, compact and light weight. I’m older and want/need something that’s light weight but sturdy. This tripod should meet my needs well.
|Dimensions||16.93 x 5.91 x 5.91 in|
|Item Weight||1.5 lbs|

This Peak Design Travel Tripod brings you everything you wanted on a tripod: stability, weight capacity, and deployed height. Apart from being able to hold a full-frame DSLR plus a telephoto lens, it also comes with a built-in mobile phone mount. Your camera or smartphone is safe with or without case. In addition, you can pack it down to the diameter of a water bottle.
... This tripod is a snap to put my camera on, and I love it. For the first time, I can say I adore a tripod. It is a perfect height for me, and if you need unique heads, you can put your own on for panning or whatever you need. I did not buy this for traveling. I bought this to take the place of my tripod I use for food photography. For me, it is the perfect tripod.
|Dimensions||16.5 x 3.6 x 3.5 in|
|Item Weight||2.79 lbs|
|Max. Height||152.4 cm|
Joby GorillaPod has no doubt about its quality. It has become the idol of many people from beginners to professionals. The material is made of carbon fiber, making it weigh less than a pound! You can attach this tripod on any terrain, from tree branches to tabletops. You will never have a shaky shot.
This thing really works just like it says it does. I purchased an adaptor so I could use with my smartphone and have used it several places. I wrap one leg around various objects and it holds well. Definitely worth the price!

Manfrotto is no longer a new player in the tripod world. To improve the quality of your food photography, you can ask MT190XPRO4 for help. The material is sturdy and provides high stability. Its Q90 column is rotatable for great positioning possibilities. Which angle do you want to take a photo from? This tripod is ready to do it.
Probably one of the best purchases I have made as a photographer/videographer. Sturdy, easy to adjust and carry, all while still remaining fairly light-weight. I would highly recommend investing in one these; it makes a wold of difference. I'm able to add a large camera slider as well as two fluid heads and this thing is still steady as a rock.
|Dimensions||19.2 x 5 x 5 in|
|Item Weight||4.6 lbs|
|Max. Height||160 cm|
It doesn't matter what heavy device you use because this Gitzo GT2542 Mountaineer Tripod will definitely hold it well. It supports up to 39lbs with an additional built-in hook for extra stability. The G-lock system allows it to work faster and so much easier. Even beginners can operate it easily.
Love this tripod I bought last year... using it with my Jobu head! The weight is good and it feels sturdy when I am with the 300mm 2.8 :) Good deal :)
|Dimensions||4.2 x 4.2 x 24.4 in|
|Item Weight||3.7 lbs|
|Max. Height||54.72 in|
We are still with Manfrotto on the next three lists. The Manfrotto 058B Triaut Camera Tripod has the ability to adjust all angles individually. That way you are given unlimited flexibility to take photos from all sides and angles, whether straight on, 25°-75°, or top-down. This item replaces the Bogen Manfrotto 3251and 3051.
This tripod is heavy, but if you have a medium format camera like the Pentax 6x7, this tripod is a requirement. The auto leveling system is really nice. All you need to do to level once set up, is to push on the three little levers next to each leg. Sure beats the old method of having to loosen six different levers in order to level the camera.
|Dimensions||37.01 x 6.69 x 7.48 in|
|Item Weight||13.56 lbs|
|Max. Height||191 cm|
If you are a fan of Manfrotto but want a lighter version, then go for the carbon fiber material. Its features are still as superior as its aluminum cousin. Only, if the Manfrotto 058B weighs 13.56 lbs, this tripod is only 3.4 lbs. But that doesn't mean this item is weak, instead, it can hold up to 11 lbs. Coupled with its 4 leg angles, which makes photographers more creative in exploring food from all sides.
This tripod has not left my side for two years. I have taken it to several states, on backpacking trips. I've had it in sea water, mountain winds, and taken it apart and put it back together to fit into smaller spaces. This tripod is the real deal, I love it. I have been thinking about buying another one to use for my slider. I always recommend everyone to buy this as their first tripod. It's super solid.

Finally, we have the 055 Aluminum Tripod Kit. From the original 22 cm high, you can extend it up to 183 cm. The easy link connection lets you connect it to various devices as well as accessories. With this tripod, your camera stability is assured more than ever. Various angles ranging from straight on, 25°-75°, to top-down you can apply to your object. Get a precision capture for your object without a hitch.
I've been through a few tripods, cheap, rickety, and eventually covered in duct tape. This tripod is sturdy, well made, and solid. I am tall, and can get the camera up to eye level - a first for me. Yes, it's not particularly light, but if you're serious, that's a good thing. This is an excellent choice.
