Just received this tripod and my initial impression is very favorable. It’s well built, smooth, compact and light weight. I’m older and want/need something that’s light weight but sturdy. This tripod should meet my needs well.

Probably one of the best purchases I have made as a photographer/videographer. Sturdy, easy to adjust and carry, all while still remaining fairly light-weight. I would highly recommend investing in one these; it makes a wold of difference. I'm able to add a large camera slider as well as two fluid heads and this thing is still steady as a rock.

It doesn’t matter what heavy device you use because this Gitzo GT2542 Mountaineer Tripod will definitely hold it well. It supports up to 39lbs with an additional built-in hook for extra stability. The G-lock system allows it to work faster and so much easier. Even beginners can operate it easily.

Love this tripod I bought last year... using it with my Jobu head! The weight is good and it feels sturdy when I am with the 300mm 2.8 :) Good deal :)

We are still with Manfrotto on the next three lists. The Manfrotto 058B Triaut Camera Tripod has the ability to adjust all angles individually. That way you are given unlimited flexibility to take photos from all sides and angles, whether straight on, 25°-75°, or top-down. This item replaces the Bogen Manfrotto 3251and 3051.

This tripod is heavy, but if you have a medium format camera like the Pentax 6x7, this tripod is a requirement. The auto leveling system is really nice. All you need to do to level once set up, is to push on the three little levers next to each leg. Sure beats the old method of having to loosen six different levers in order to level the camera.

If you are a fan of Manfrotto but want a lighter version, then go for the carbon fiber material. Its features are still as superior as its aluminum cousin. Only, if the Manfrotto 058B weighs 13.56 lbs, this tripod is only 3.4 lbs. But that doesn’t mean this item is weak, instead, it can hold up to 11 lbs. Coupled with its 4 leg angles, which makes photographers more creative in exploring food from all sides.

This tripod has not left my side for two years. I have taken it to several states, on backpacking trips. I've had it in sea water, mountain winds, and taken it apart and put it back together to fit into smaller spaces. This tripod is the real deal, I love it. I have been thinking about buying another one to use for my slider. I always recommend everyone to buy this as their first tripod. It's super solid.
