Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Let's dive into these questions!
What to consider when buying a sleeping bag?
Never go without a plan. First, determine your budget to narrow down the abundant options. After that, decide whether you want a sleeping bag with synthetic or down feathers for the insulation type. Temperature rating is the next point to check so that your main needs of warmth are fulfilled. You can select the shape and weight afterward to ensure it fits you well without weighing you down.
Which one is better: down or synthetic sleeping bags?
It depends, of course! If you are looking for a sleeping bag that is compressible and can last up to decades, then the down type is best. However, to get this dream feature, you have to spend more. And that's where synthetic wins. Even so, the synthetic sleeping bag is less compressible and break down sooner after continuous stuffing and re-stuffing.
How to wash my sleeping bag?
If only a few parts are stained, you can spot clean it by making a paste of a little non-detergent soap and then brush gently. If a complete wash is required, you should check and follow the manufacturer's washing instructions.
What's the best way to store my sleeping bag?
The first thing you have to do is release air from the bag, starting from the foot out of the top. You can roll up the sleeping bag and tuck it into a slightly larger stuff sack to make it easier. Using a waterproof stuff sack is a smart choice when rain is a real possibility. Keep in mind that keeping your bag compressed for an extended period of time will reduce the bag's loft. If you're not planning on using it, it's better to keep it outside of its compression stuff sack.
10 Reviews: Best Synthetic Sleeping Bags (Jan 2021)

1.Hyke & Byke
Katahdin
Down-like synthetic bag
We all hope we can have sleeping bags that are light and compressible like down, but we also want the one that remains dry and affordable enough like synthetic. Well, Hyke & Byke Katahdin Sleeping bag granted your wish. This sleeping gear uses Advanced Synthetic which is claimed to be "the lightest, most compressible down-like synthetic bag." Still in doubt? Prove it yourself.
I took this bag on my backpacking trip. For a synthetic bag, it has great fill power and is able to compress almost as small and light as a 650 FP down bag. The bag lofts nicely,is warm and comfortable. Even though I did not experience nights below 50 degrees, I can see being able to use it comfortably down to 30 degrees. For a budget 3 season option, I highly recommend. 5 stars.

I've been using this item for about 2 months straight because I hammock camp as well as sleep in a hammock every night at home. The product keeps you warm, the underside is soft and it can be utilized as a blanket or as a sleeping bag. I'm glad I made this purchase.

3.Exped
MegaSleep 25/40 Sleeping Bag
Generous room
The perk of having a rectangle shape sleeping bag is that no matter what your favorite sleeping position is, you will have plenty of room to spread out. That's what you get if you pick this Exped MegaSleep. Apart from that, you can flip it over based on weather conditions: the dark blue side up for cool nights (down to 25°F) light blue side up for warm nights (down to 40°F). Isn't that impressive?

Only slept in it a few times, but this bag is awesome. Cool to the touch fabric on the inside, easy pull zippers with snags Only with overly quick or harsh use. Compresses and expands with ease.

I wanted something lightweight and warm and this bag has done just that! it fits perfectly at the bottom of my pack and is easy to compress in its own bag too. I like the addition of the zipper pouch inside and that you can open the entire bag to the feet for added breeze! the material is soft.

It features 100% recycled fabrics that make you less-guilty if you care about nature. Without looking bulky, this sleeping gear can handle as low as 20F degrees and provide a softer feel in the skin. Makes 20 degree camping feel easy! Keeps us very warm at night and incredibly comfortable. The fleece at the top of the sleeping bag is fantastic, especially for the colder nights when trying to keep the warmth in. It’s not overly bulking and quite thin considering. I would definitely recommend this sleeping bag.

8.Nemo
Kyan 20 Sleeping Bag
As warm as home
You crave warmth but are also reluctant if it adds weight to your back. NEMO Kyan ticks the boxes as it can make you feel at home, even when the temperature around you is as low as 21F degrees and weighs only 1 lb 2 oz. The durable water repellent finish also contributes to giving you the utmost comfort by resisting moisture and stains away. No need to wear a thick fur coat, this one is enough.
I bought the Kyan 20 right when it came out. Took it on a colder trip right away, and it was great. The temperature got down to about 24 degrees, and this bag kept me warm while only wearing a baselayer. The bag is well-made, the material is very comfortable, and it packs down to an impressively compact size.

Rated at 20F, you can stay cozy on backcountry outings while counting the glittering stars.
We took this camping in Eastern UT. The temps dipped down to the mid 30's our first two nights using these. Night one I bundled up on clothing layers expecting to have to shiver through the night instead I was SWEATING the entire night. Night 2 I slept without any extra clothing and was nice and warm. So this baby can keep you toasty through early Spring season weather.
