Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Let's dive into these questions!
What to consider when buying a sleeping bag?
Never go without a plan. First, determine your budget to narrow down the abundant options. After that, decide whether you want a sleeping bag with synthetic or down feathers for the insulation type. Temperature rating is the next point to check so that your main needs of warmth are fulfilled. You can select the shape and weight afterward to ensure it fits you well without weighing you down.
Which one is better: down or synthetic sleeping bags?
It depends, of course! If you are looking for a sleeping bag that is compressible and can last up to decades, then the down type is best. However, to get this dream feature, you have to spend more. And that's where synthetic wins. Even so, the synthetic sleeping bag is less compressible and break down sooner after continuous stuffing and re-stuffing.
How to wash my sleeping bag?
If only a few parts are stained, you can spot clean it by making a paste of a little non-detergent soap and then brush gently. If a complete wash is required, you should check and follow the manufacturer's washing instructions.
What's the best way to store my sleeping bag?
The first thing you have to do is release air from the bag, starting from the foot out of the top. You can roll up the sleeping bag and tuck it into a slightly larger stuff sack to make it easier. Using a waterproof stuff sack is a smart choice when rain is a real possibility. Keep in mind that keeping your bag compressed for an extended period of time will reduce the bag's loft. If you're not planning on using it, it's better to keep it outside of its compression stuff sack.
10 Reviews: Best Hammock Sleeping Bag (Jan 2021)
Let's start with Winner Outfitters. This sleeping comes with a surprisingly inexpensive price tag which is under $40. Don't think you'll get a basic bag; even from the appearance alone, this product is superior to those that are more expensive. The material quality is supported by a 350T polyester shell and liner which is waterproof, skin-friendly, and soft. As for the temperature rating, you will stay warm between 35F and 40F.
Really impressed for the cost. I used this in tandem with a hammock and 40F rated underquilt. In clear/quiet weather and under shade at 28F outside, I was sweating while wearing my hoodie and long johns in the hammock with this set up and was blown away. The materials are lightweight and well constructed, can be machine washed and comes with a 5 year warranty. I will be coming back to these guys for more equipment for sure.

Swing around at ease through the use of this survival rated underquilt that guarantees your comfort at 20-30 degrees. Designed to fit all standard individual hammocks, there's no reason to leave it at home. Moreover, at only 2.9 pounds, this truly lightweight piece of gear is ready to improve your sleep quality.
It worked perfectly! Very lightweight piece of gear. My summer pack stays around 25lbs, so this minor addition to weight is ideal for lightweight hammock campers.

If you find it difficult to move in the mummy-style sleeping bag, this one refuses to make you feel the same. Coleman combines mummy and quilts design to give you more space so you can adjust your sleeping position in a breeze. Furthermore, it traps heat effectively. You won't get chills even if the temperature drops as low as 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
Really depends on how your body temp runs. I slept outside in my hammock a few nights in a row when it was around 30 Fahrenheit and felt perfectly comfortable. Feels very durable. Almost bought a few more just for the price to throw in the attic

Next, we have OneTigris Night Protector Hammock Underquilt which is perfect for the backpack hammock camper who wants something light and compact. This sleeping gear weighs only 28oz and can be compressed up to 13 x 6.8 inches only. For easy set-up and fix to your hammock, the Night Protector comes with short bungee cord loops.
I purchased the Onetigris for hammock camping in fall/winter. With my Kelti sleeping bag I slept all night great, with a low of 21. My goal was to achieve polar bear status, which I did, i liked it enough to purchase another one for my boyfriend.

If you're a down bag snob, OneTigris Light Patrol won't disappoint you. It's designed to keep you warm from top to bottom with polyester lining and a water repellent nylon shell. Since a down sleeping bag is known for its lightness, it is perfect to be your non-human travel companion, anywhere you want. Your purchase comes with a compression stuff sack for easy storage.
Great sleeping bag, nice and compact. I’ve used it at 0Celcius and been super warm, and used two of these together at -15 Celsius in a hammock and had a great sleep.

Let's move to the sleep system by Snugpak which is insulated for dry, cocooned warmth while still offering breathability. Quality materials are used for long-lasting use as well as ensure your comfort. What's great, this item has two insulation systems that allow you to choose a hammock quilt or hammock under blanket.
I used my Cocoon for the first time this last weekend. It was the best night’s sleep I’ve had in my hammock. Easy in and out, super warm but easily vented. Seems extremely well made. I’m very happy about this addition to my kit. It’s coming to get a lot of use. Could easily double as a regular sleeping bag when needed.

Sleep comfortably, even when it's 0°F outside, in the ALPS Mountaineering Blaze 0 Degree Mummy Sleeping Bag with a polyester ripstop shell and polyester lining. The Blaze is able to protect you from bitterly cold temperature up to 0 degree. What's more, there is enough space for you to roam. Add this to your camping essentials and say good bye to claustrophobic!
This ALPS Mountaineering Blaze 0 Degree Mummy Sleeping Bag gives a lot of warmth in the cold outdoors. The fabric is of great quality; it's very strong but soft enough to provide the comfort. The interior fabric is soft and retains body heat. The smartly designed shape and size allows wiggle rooms for a comfortable sleep. It's also very lightweight for carrying and storage. I recommend it!
|Item Weight||5.3 lbs|

This four-season sleeping bag complements its lightweight design with durable materials and surprising warmth despite its lack of obvious heft. For the material, Hyke & Byke gave it to ripstop nylon fabric liner which is water-resistant and made to last. Additionally, this sleeping gear is stuffed with 800 fill power goose down, making it feels like heaven!
Great product, good loft, very happy with this. I use this more as a sleeping bag paired with an underquilt now so i can get diagonal in my hammock. I've been out in 32 degrees ferinhight and was snug as a bug in a rug.

The Outdoor Vitals Aerie Sleeping Bag is made for those wanderers who already have plenty of pack space taken up by the hammock itself. Weighing only 2 lbs 4.5 oz, Aerie guarantees your warmth to temperatures as low as 15°F. In addition, with just one product you can use it for five functions: underquilt, hammock pod system, technical blanket, sleeping bag, and double sleeping bag. What's not to like?
I was very surprised when I got this. I had never used any kind of quilt with my hammock, now, I'll never go without one. It lofts up to maybe 5 inches thick and is so warm that my first time using it (as an underquilt) all I needed was a wool blanket on top to stay nice and warm. The temp got down to 35F that night. The next night I tried it as a Pod with the same toasty-warm results minus the blanket. I love it!

Last on our list, Outdoor Vitals Atlas mixes 80% LoftTek with 20% 800+ fill power down which makes this sleeping gear have the benefits of down, but the moisture advantages of synthetic. It means that you can remain dry and warm no matter how the weather is. The Atlas gives you best in class weight to warm ratios and is ready to go wherever you go.
Love this bag! Packs down nicely and is crazy warm and fit perfectly into my hammock. After checking out my bag this weekend my boyfriend is now planning to buy their under quilt and maybe another sleeping bag that'll zip together with mine when we're tent camping.
