Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
In case you don't know
Is a fish finder worth it?
A fish finder, on the other hand, is a great tool to have if you want to catch a lot of fish because it helps you to see fish and structures at the bottom of your boat so you can see the condition there. There's no need to be frustrated when waiting for fish when you have a fish finder on your side; in fact, some fish finders come with GPS features that are extremely useful while fishing.
Can I turn on my fish finder out of water?
We may say that using a FishFinder and transducer on a boat that is not in the water is not recommended because the transducer will not give you any readings. As a result, before you turn on the fish finder, make sure you're already on the boat and ready to go fishing.
How deep can fish finders work?
Basically, most fish finders have different deep level capabilities, but they will work as deep as you want them to work if you set the frequencies appropriately. The lower the frequencies, the deeper the waters, for example, 200-800 kHz for waters up to 200 meters deep and 80-50 kHz for waters less than 200 meters deep.
How to choose a right fish finder?
Consider the type of fishfinder you like, if it has GPS and is part of a boat-wide network, the size of the fishfinder's footprint, the display resolution, how much transmitting power you need, and the frequencies would function better in the freshwater, marine, or deep-water area where you fish.

Starting with this handheld fish finder, which features a 2.4-inch TFT color LCD for a clearer view of underwater contour, water depth, water temperature, and, of course, fish size. With a wired operating distance of 26 feet and a depth detection range of 328 feet, this device can assist in the detection of fish in the water. Since it's rechargeable, it comes with a USB cable for charging and can run for up to 5 hours on a single charge.
I was looking for an easy portable depth finder for our mini Paddle pontoon boat. This item was exactly what I was looking for - right out of the box it was ready to use as soon as it was charged. Took it on our boat dropped the transducer in the water and it was working immediately. Another big plus was that everything we need was in the box - didn't need to order anything separately. Very happy with this purchase.

Ricank is here with this portable fish finder that can be used for a variety of fishing methods, including offshore fishing, kayak fishing, ice fishing, lake fishing, sea fishing, and river fishing. It comes with a 25-foot cable and a removable transducer float, as well as a depth range of 3 feet (1 meter) to 328 feet (100 meters) below the fishing sonar transducer. It has 5 sensitivity settings, a battery saves mode, a backlight mode, a fish alarm, and a unit of measure, all of which make fishing a lot easier.
Its a wonderful little gadget that does the job. I've had more expensive fish finders and for the money, you can't beat this. I mounted in on my 14 ft fishing boat. I use it primarily for seeing depth since fish in rocky lakes and need to avoid them with my boat and motor. I can't vouch for it showing me fish yet, maybe soon.

At this price, you can get a fish finder with high-sensitivity GPS that lets you build routes, mark waypoints, and monitor your boat's speed. What a device! This fish finder has a 4-inch color display with new vivid scanning sonar color palettes that make it easy to tell the difference between fish and structure. It also comes with a GT20 transducer for use with the built-in Garmin CHIRP conventional sonar and CHIRP ClearVü scanning sonar.
used this on a trip to canada, and was super happy with it. To not only have a fish finder to give you the correct depths, but to incorporate the GPS was great. It was super useful on unfamiliar water, because if you pay attention the 1st time you can follow your path to get home safely. Also, we used it to mark fish that we caught, and was able to use the split screen to pin point those spots and see depths. Pretty cool for this price point.

This is the Humminbird HELIX 5 fishfinder, which features a larger 5" color WVGA display. It helps you to see what's on the water clearly and then quickly captures the fish. It's also equipped with CHIRP Digital Sonar, which works to reveal information that other types of sonar can't. This system will guide you to the correct location using Precision Internal GPS Chart plotting with built-in Anima cartography.
Easy installation easy humming bird features, it has gps and marking on the map. I love this so much I ordered another one. I like a good depth/fish finder it helps get on fish but I'd they are to hard to figure out how to use then you wont. It's easy and I loved it

The X-Press menu options make it simple to change the view, depth range, chart speed, and sensitivity of the fishfinder. It also has a Fish ID+ function, which displays the strength of a sonar return with three different icons to indicate relative fish size. This will make fishing a lot easier for you.
Installed, hooked up battery, pushed on button, everything worked perfectly.

This Lowrance fish finder has a Bullet Skimmer Transducer, which produces an extra-wide beam and doubles the coverage of regular fish finders. It has a 4" SolarMAX panel with outstanding daylight clarity and brightness, meaning that you can clearly see the display. Furthermore, autotuning Sonar changes settings as conditions change, allowing you to focus more on fishing.
This was put on the bow and is a great companion to the hook 7x I have on console.

This Portable Oyoyo fish finder is the next item on the list. This is a fish finder that syncs with iOS/Android devices and can be controlled entirely with your smartphone. No need for internet because it is connected via WiFi (similar to a hotspot). Don't worry, it has a built-in GPS that allows you to make bathymetric maps from the shore and save them to the Lake book for retrieval and review later.
I never have luck fishing on lakes. Always go home skunked. Went out today and nobody was catching any fish off the dock. I casted out 3 times with the deeper and found some structure where all the fish were hanging out. Set my bobber stop to 7 feet down where deeper said they were and was catching striped bass every cast. Can't argue with success. Glad I invested in this.

This T-Box fish finder is from Vexilar. Simply install it on your boat, connect it to your smartphone, and it will show you where the fish are. Don't worry, it will connect to your phone or tablet with its own WiFi hotspot. Not only that, but it also includes a neoprene armband to ensure that you still have quick and secure access to your phone's monitor.
Put this on my Waverunner so I see the depth thru the hull. Works great, turn it on and start Sonar Pro app on your phone and off you go no longer worrying if you’ll run aground. Also works with my Navionics app on my iPhone so I can maps and depth at the same time. Awesome!

This is last but not least. Venterior offers a handheld fish finder. It uses sonar to detect not only the position of the fish, but also the water depth and temperature, as well as short and tall weeds, sand, and rocks on the seabed. Don't worry; the configuration you've been configuring can be saved when the device is switched off, allowing you to use it again with the same settings.
I highly recommend the Venterior Portable Fish Finder. I used all winter ice fishing, this product does exactly as described. I have also used this on the float tube on our lakes here in Alaska, This fish finder is awesome, you won't regret buying it.
