Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
In case you don't know
Is a fish finder worth it?
A fish finder, on the other hand, is a great tool to have if you want to catch a lot of fish because it helps you to see fish and structures at the bottom of your boat so you can see the condition there. There’s no need to be frustrated when waiting for fish when you have a fish finder on your side; in fact, some fish finders come with GPS features that are extremely useful while fishing.
Can I turn on my fish finder out of water?
We may say that using a FishFinder and transducer on a boat that is not in the water is not recommended because the transducer will not give you any readings. As a result, before you turn on the fish finder, make sure you’re already on the boat and ready to go fishing.
How deep can fish finders work?
Basically, most fish finders have different deep level capabilities, but they will work as deep as you want them to work if you set the frequencies appropriately. The lower the frequencies, the deeper the waters, for example, 200-800 kHz for waters up to 200 meters deep and 80-50 kHz for waters less than 200 meters deep.
How to choose a right fish finder?
Consider the type of fishfinder you like, if it has GPS and is part of a boat-wide network, the size of the fishfinder’s footprint, the display resolution, how much transmitting power you need, and the frequencies would function better in the freshwater, marine, or deep-water area where you fish.

Installed easily. loaded up pretty quickly and found my location. Maps are pretty well up-to-date. I haven't downloaded the updates from Garmin yet. Shows many navigation points where I run my boat. Sonar is really nice. So many features that I haven't really explored yet. It does what I need really well - and that is get me out off the marina and back again knowing where the trouble spots in the river are. This is the best Garmin I have ever had!

I loved it, attached on the boat perfectly, easily and exceeds my expectations. Looks beautiful and although I have only used it once (everything is closed due to pandemic) it performed exactly as I needed. As soon as life gets back to "normal" I can't wait to go out on the boat and find my spots easily!

PRO+ Smart Sonar
Smartphone Connected Fish Finder
This is last but not least. A fish finder that syncs with iOS/Android devices and can be controlled entirely with your smartphone. No need for internet because it is connected via WiFi (similar to a hotspot). Don’t worry, it has a built-in GPS that allows you to make bathymetric maps from the shore and save them to the Lake book for retrieval and review later.
I never have luck fishing on lakes. Always go home skunked. Went out today and nobody was catching any fish off the dock. I casted out 3 times with the deeper and found some structure where all the fish were hanging out. Set my bobber stop to 7 feet down where deeper said they were and was catching striped bass every cast. Can't argue with success. Glad I invested in this.
