Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
In case you don't know
Is a fish finder worth it?
A fish finder, on the other hand, is a great tool to have if you want to catch a lot of fish because it helps you to see fish and structures at the bottom of your boat so you can see the condition there. There's no need to be frustrated when waiting for fish when you have a fish finder on your side; in fact, some fish finders come with GPS features that are extremely useful while fishing.
Can I turn on my fish finder out of water?
We may say that using a FishFinder and transducer on a boat that is not in the water is not recommended because the transducer will not give you any readings. As a result, before you turn on the fish finder, make sure you're already on the boat and ready to go fishing.
How deep can fish finders work?
Basically, most fish finders have different deep level capabilities, but they will work as deep as you want them to work if you set the frequencies appropriately. The lower the frequencies, the deeper the waters, for example, 200-800 kHz for waters up to 200 meters deep and 80-50 kHz for waters less than 200 meters deep.
How to choose a right fish finder?
Consider the type of fishfinder you like, if it has GPS and is part of a boat-wide network, the size of the fishfinder's footprint, the display resolution, how much transmitting power you need, and the frequencies would function better in the freshwater, marine, or deep-water area where you fish.

This Garmin Striker 4 is such a great device to help you find the fish because it has so many powerful features. You won't have to remember where the hot spots, docks, and ramps are with this fish finder by your side; it helps you to save your favorite waypoints and routes and uses a high-sensitivity GPS to easily and reliably locate your position. Furthermore, you can control the device to suit your needs using the convenient keypad.
A lot of technology packed into a relatively small and very economical package.

Okay, this is another Garmin fishfinder with ClearVü scanning sonar, which is excellent for showing you more of what's in the water around your ships. That's a high-frequency sonar that uses precise representations of objects, structures, and fish to produce near-photographic images. Sure, you'll catch more fish with this fish finder by your side!
Installed easily. loaded up pretty quickly and found my location. Maps are pretty well up-to-date. I haven't downloaded the updates from Garmin yet. Shows many navigation points where I run my boat. Sonar is really nice. So many features that I haven't really explored yet. It does what I need really well - and that is get me out off the marina and back again knowing where the trouble spots in the river are. This is the best Garmin I have ever had!

Again, a Garmin fishfinder that comes with CHIRP ClearVü and CHIRP SideVü scanning sonars. CHIRP will work together to show you more information about what's on the bottom of your boat. It has built-in Quickdraw Contours mapping program, which allows you to make and save maps, and uses them whenever you need them. Furthermore, you can receive smart alerts on your smartphone using the built-in Wi-Fi for access to the ActiveCaptain app.
I loved it, attached on the boat perfectly, easily and exceeds my expectations. Looks beautiful and although I have only used it once (everything is closed due to pandemic) it performed exactly as I needed. As soon as life gets back to "normal" I can't wait to go out on the boat and find my spots easily!
|MEASUREMENTS||9.3 x 2.3 x 5.5 inches|
This is the Humminbird HELIX 5 fishfinder, which features a larger 5" color WVGA display. It helps you to see what's on the water clearly and then quickly captures the fish. It's also equipped with CHIRP Digital Sonar, which works to reveal information that other types of sonar can't. This system will guide you to the correct location using Precision Internal GPS Chart plotting with built-in Anima cartography.
Easy installation easy humming bird features, it has gps and marking on the map. I love this so much I ordered another one. I like a good depth/fish finder it helps get on fish but I'd they are to hard to figure out how to use then you wont. It's easy and I loved it
|MEASUREMENTS||7.55" x 4.64" x 3.3"d|
This is a Humminbird fishfinder with Dual Spectrum CHIRP Sonar, which helps you to see individual fish, clearly distinguish bait and structure, and reach deeper and farther depths and ranges, allowing you to capture more fish. Besides that, it has an adjustable sonar zoom that helps you to zoom in on the fish. Simply mount it on your boat using the included gimbal mount, and you'll be ready to go right after the ice melts.
Bought this after i was tired of the fish hunter pro. It is a great ducer. Worked well right off the get go. Came fast in shipping. The battery that it came with last about 2 days at 50% power.

Nonetheless, a Humminbird fishfinder with a 7-Inch Color WVGA Display helps you to see clearly. It has a CHIRP Down Imaging Sonar that operates to show you the condition of the bottom of your boat. It has a single micro SD card slot for saving waypoints and optimizing maps. This fish finder will undoubtedly save your life by allowing you to catch a large number of fish.
This is a fantastic unit! It is easy to read, easy to use, and works really well. We caught a bunch of fish the other day and many were located with this unit. I will buy another.
|MEASUREMENTS||1.13 x 10.54 x 5.8 inches|
Lowrance has a fish finder with auto-tuning sonar and phone-like menus, so you can spend more time fishing and less time fiddling with settings. It has a wide-angle CHIRP sonar cone built-in, giving you twice the coverage of typical fish finders. You can install it on the transom, inside the hull, on the trolling motor, or through a scupper hole, and it's simple to set up.
Easy installation, everything performed flawlessly right out of the box.
|MEASUREMENTS||18 x 10 x 6 inches|
This is the upgraded version of Lowrance's previous fish finder, which includes an SD card slot for potential software and mapping updates, as well as third-party maps. Not only that, but the SplitShot transducer provides you with more sonar views, including DownScan sonar (straight down) and CHIRP sonar (fish arch).
I do a lot of crappie fishing and I was looking for something that wouldn’t break the bank that allowed me to see off to the sides of the boat for brush. And for the price you can’t beat it! Easy to set up and easy to use! I would recommend to anyone

The HOOK2-4x Fish Finder with Bullet Skimmer Transducer is yet another Lowrance fishfinder. The 4" SolarMAX monitor on this unit provides excellent daylight transparency and visibility. Besides that, the Autotuning Sonar changes settings as conditions shift, allowing you to focus more on fishing, while the GPS Plotter saves waypoints and trails so you can mark and return to hotspots.
Purchased this for my kayak an has been great. Decent size for that

|MEASUREMENTS||6.51" x 3.31" x 3.8" h. (with bracket)|
This is last but not least. A fish finder that syncs with iOS/Android devices and can be controlled entirely with your smartphone. No need for internet because it is connected via WiFi (similar to a hotspot). Don't worry, it has a built-in GPS that allows you to make bathymetric maps from the shore and save them to the Lake book for retrieval and review later.
I never have luck fishing on lakes. Always go home skunked. Went out today and nobody was catching any fish off the dock. I casted out 3 times with the deeper and found some structure where all the fish were hanging out. Set my bobber stop to 7 feet down where deeper said they were and was catching striped bass every cast. Can't argue with success. Glad I invested in this.
