Kissing spines is still debated as to whether it is a condition with a predisposition existing from birth or if it is caused by something (bad saddle fit, improper riding, etc.) that occurs later in the horse’s life. Dr. Carol Vischer, DVM, of New York has conducted extensive research and concluded that kissing spine is a disease that some horses are simply predisposed to, but whatever you believe, the fact remains that it can be exacerbated by poor riding and saddle fit. Nevertheless, we’ve made a list of the top ten of saddles for horses with kissing spines. Keep on reading to learn more!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
FAQ about horse saddle
What is the proper saddle size for a grown up man?
15 inches for the average adult, 16 inches for a large adult,17 inches for an extra-large adult.
How do I figure out what size saddle I need?
The seat size of a western saddle is simple to determine. Make use of a retractable tape measure. Begin measuring behind the swell and work your way over the seat to the front of the cantle. The seat size is determined by this measurement.
What is a ranch roper saddle?
The RANCH ROPER is a “buckaroo type” saddle designed for tough labor with a traditional cowboy appearance. Its large, flat roping horn, heavy-duty fork, buck rolls, and deep seat are all intended for optimal comfort either managing animals or just riding the range.
Where should a western saddle sit on a horse?
The ideal saddle posture for a western saddle tree is meant to fit just behind the horse’s shoulder blades. Some horses develop a pocket where the rear of the shoulder blade slides down to the rib cage. In this location, wider mutton withered horses have very little definition.

These Cordura saddles are great if you want a lightweight trail or show saddle. These saddles are different from the rest because they have silver conchos, soft cushioned seats, and a one-of-a-kind look. As you can see, Nylon is used to hold the saddle together, which makes it tear-proof and easy to clean. The seat cushion is soft, and the buckles on the Blevins can be changed to fit your body. The tree is made of fiberglass that has been double-reinforced. The underbelly is made of soft synthetic fleece, and the trunk is made of wood. Get a headstall, reins, breast collar, and pad for your horse that match each other. Clothespins are not part of the package.
I actually love this !!!! It stands out so much and I have gotten nothing but compliments on it ! The saddle pad is a bit slippery but nothing uncontrollable

This saddle has a rigid cantle and pommel, but its bars are made of a very durable flexible rubber-like proprietary material that has been specially designed and tested to withstand pressure, temperature, and moisture, as well as being very flexible. The bars are flexible, so they can be moved and positioned to make the saddle comfortable for both the horse and the rider. This makes for a saddle that fits both the horse and the rider perfectly. The bars move very quickly from a semi to a full bar. Unlike traditional treed saddles, this saddle is built with a traditional look and feel. It’s somewhere between a traditional treed saddle and the world’s best-known Hilason Treeless saddle. The stirrups have buckles called Blevins that make it easy to change the length of the stirrups and fit a wider range of riders. The Hilason Flex Tree saddles are for people who care a lot about both the horse and the rider’s comfort while still making sure the saddles are good.

Ive bought three of this brand and have been pleased with them all. Very good quality for an economical price. We rope almost every day and these saddles have held up just as beautifully as our more expensive brands. They fit most of our horses too, the bar angles seem pretty universal.

The Martin Team Roper Saddle is designed to keep a roper’s body in place while still allowing for optimum accuracy and performance. The saddle enables the rider to get the most from their horse while maintaining stability and control, enabling them to perform better. Riders maintain their feet firmly planted under their center of gravity, avoiding the horn. The position of the seat pocket stirrups and the swell design prevents riders from leaning forward. They stay with their horse when they depart the box and throughout the race due to the cantle design. For enhanced durability, the edges are stitched, and the back housing and fenders are lined with extremely durable Hermann Oak skirting leather. Billets have been strengthened to increase their longevity and durability.
We love our new Martin saddle. NRS was great to work with in getting it shipped overnight for the weekend.

So that’s our list. Before you decide to check out one, two, or three of them, keep in mind that you must first choose the size that you need rather than the design that appeals to you. Because it will have an impact on both your and your horse’s comfort. Horseback riding should be a safe and pleasant sport for both humans and animals. So, which one do you prefer?
