I began working in an office when I was 16. On the first day of the job, my supervisor showed me to utilize steno pads putting the date and subject on the top of the page. When you finish the book, you turn it over and use the back of all of the pages. If anyone has a question of what happened on a given day, consult your notes and you will likely find the answer to your question. 30 years later and the system still works better than any other I have ever found.

I just started a new semester this year and need a hard bound book for my biology lab. I had recently gone on to collect and use fountain pens and I read on Reddit that this notebook is the best for fountain pens when you are on a budget. When it came in the mail, I noticed that there was a very small dent on the bottom right corner but nothing too crazy that would knock off a star. I have been doing my lab write ups with this book and so far it has held up really well and exceeded my expectations. The ink I use is a really wet J. Herbin Eclat de Saphir with a medium sized japanese nib and the pages take the ink like a champ. There is no bleed through whatsoever and I was incredibly impressed. However, I do have to mention that the dry times with this paper was a lot longer than others that I have tried. Overall I think this is a great budget friendly fountain pen notebook.

Mead Spiral Notebook is made with 100% recycled materials. The ruled sheets are double-sided for plenty of notetaking space. Pages are perforated so they easily tear out with clean edges. Have sturdy and lovely spiral binding to not make you bored when the class nerve-wracking.

Good little notebook, I'm using it for recipes I like but don't use often enough to remember. Lies flat. The pages are perforated, but paper is thick enough and perforation isn't such that pages are tearing away on their own. The cover is heavier stock, and sturdy. The first page is a little pocket page where I keep index tabs. Paper weight is good, I can faintly see pen written on obverse side, but not enough to keep me from writing on each side. The one photo is black ink from hard tip felt pen, the other is regular ball point ink.

Bought this to see if the quality of the paper was even better than Clairefontaine or Miquelrius paper. The answer is both yes and no: Yes, this paper is very smooth...if you write with a ballpoint pen. Try it with rollerball pens, gel pens or fountain pens? You might as well look at something else. The feel of the paper, especially in warm, humid weather is akin to paper that was dipped/dropped in water and dried out but it never warps. With rollerball, gel or fountain pens the ink smudges even after a couple of minutes on the paper and it feels like you're writing into a pillow.

Once you get used to the fact that you won't be able to use any water-based pens, and if you invest in some good fine point permanent markers, this is a FANTASTIC journal. It's as durable as it promises to be, and the page design is great for if you need to go between taking notes and sketching. Furthermore, as someone with poor eyesight, I really appreciate how the lines are dark enough that I can see them from afar. It makes the notebook really good for fieldwork and for writing in less than optimal lighting. I will definitely be buying more of these!

I was specifically looking for a small notebook or pad that fit in my wallet for taking unexpected notes. I wanted one 4.5 inches wide to fit in a designated slot. Originally I was looking for a nice leather case but for the price of 4 notebooks, the postits, and the notebook being the right size I settled on this notebook. I also would have preferred not a spiral notebook but oh well, I knew what I was buying when I ordered it, and when it came there were no surprises. The covers are heavy cardstock, it fit in my wallet exactly as I wanted, the pens write easily, the notebook is exactly as described and I had no difficulty writing on the pages. I received all 4 notebooks and pens in great condition.

I am super picky about my notebooks. My husband might call it a little OCD. These notebooks surpassed my expectations. Considering they cost ~$2 each they are amazing. I tried out all my usual pens on them and again they surpassed expectations. I see little to no feathering with even my 1.1mm stub nib fountain pen. Also little to no ghosting. They are well made, stitching is tight, dot grid is a nice medium grey and the corners rounded.

The quality of the paper is really good, it’s not too thin that I feel like it’s going to rip easily, and it’s not too thick that its hard to write on; it’s perfect! I am in love with the simple, minimalist design. Plus the contribution to a healthier environment makes me feel so much better about purchasing. I am going to use this as a lab notebook for a research job because the unruled pages makes it easier to think. 10/10 would definitely recommend for any profession!
