When you’re not near a flat-topped piece of furniture, the stiff cardboard back cover is ideal for writing on. Not to mention the dotted pages, which offer structure without being too obvious which allow you to write whatever on them.

Rhoda is the go to paper for fountain pens. This paper has worked with every ink I’ve purchased; even high sheen inks. Also, the quality seems consistent across all sizes and types of notepads.

If you want to take a small notebook with you everywhere and like toothy paper with a variety of cover designs to select from, this is the choice for you. It’s not the cheapest pocket notebook on the market, nor is it made of the most luxuriously smooth paper, but it’s the greatest generally accessible method to reward yourself with a better writing experience. Furthermore, it is small enough to slip into a pocket or purse without feeling like a second wallet.

The paper in the Maruman Mnemosyne N194A Special Memo Notebook will be one of your favorites soon, especially when you use a fountain pen to write on it. Its vellum-like smoothness brought out the best in gel and fountain pen inks, with sharp, non-feathery edges. The paper is thicker and less smudgy than comparable spiral notebooks, with very little ghosting and no bleeding.

My favorite work and personal notebook now. I've always hated writing close to margins so having the book be horizontal allows more unaffected hand movements thus better handwriting. The grids are small but not too small for my medium writing. [...]

This is a classic notebook with excellent quality for the price and a nice size. The paper does not bleed, and you may choose whether you want lines, no lines, ruled, dotted, or anything else. The leather-like classic Moleskine cover and thick, ivory paper sheets are ideal for fountain pen writing. The Classic also includes a back pocket, which is useful for keeping memories.

I use a lot of different notebooks for work, but have been using one of these for a few years now for my daily grind. While yes, certain gel pens do have a bleed to them, overall with my better pens this thing is fantastic. [...]
