A cocktail shaker is an essential tool for creating outstanding drinks. Of course, not every cocktail is shaken. Some cocktails are mixed in a mixing glass with a bar spoon, while others are made straight in the glass without the need for a shaker. However, shakers are used to combine citrus or other juices, froth egg whites, and provide the correct amount of cooling and dilution to various drinks. Here are some of the top cocktail shakers for homes on the market!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is a cocktail shaker?
A cocktail shaker is equipment that is used to shake drinks (typically alcoholic ones). When ice is added to the shaker, the drink cools down faster before being served. The Boston Shaker, Cobbler Shaker, and French Shaker are the three main varieties of shakers.
How to use a cocktail shaker?
Fill the shaker halfway with your cocktail components, starting with the least costly and working your way up to the most expensive. Then add a large quantity of ice to the container. If you’re using a cobbler shaker, close the lid. Seal your tins if you’re using a Boston shaker. Shake vigorously until the edges of the tins have frosted over and are cold to the touch. Remove the ice pieces, herbs, and citrus seeds before straining and serving!
How do you stop a cocktail shaker from leaking?
You must establish a good seal when closing the shaker so that it does not leak when shaking. At an angle, place the empty metal mixing tin on top of the full shaker. Tap the base of the tin sharply with the heel of your palm. It’s not necessary to strike the tin hard, just solidly.
What size cocktail shaker do I need?
Shakers are available in a range of sizes, from single-serving to large groups. If you just need a shaker for a single happy hour, a modest 12-ounce shaker would suffice. If you’re making cocktails for a crowd, use a shaker with a capacity of at least 28 ounces. This will save you time by allowing you to make many drinks at the same time.

Koriko Tins are professional-grade tins that are meant to fit snugly and separate easily after shaking. They are long-lasting, and the tins’ comparatively small walls guarantee that they establish a solid, tight seal right away. Each tin (big and mini) is constructed of weighted stainless steel and contains two beverages. They’re a little difficult to seal the first few times, but that only means they’ll stay longer.
We bought this along w the smaller cup that fits together. They work great, do not leak, look good. They’d make a nice housewarming gift
For all you home entertainers, OXO’s Good Grips Cocktail Shaker makes mixing a breeze. It’s designed for low-effort, mess-free cocktail making—no expertise behind the bar necessary. Throughout the shaking, two distinct silicone seals guarantee that there are no spills or slides. You can juice citrus or muddle herbs right in the shaker thanks to the built-in sieve. Finally, the lid has a smooth-release design that makes it easy to separate after you’re done shaking. Simply dismantle the shaker after pouring your drink and place it in the dishwasher.
I’ve had a few cocktail shakers & this by far is the best I’ve tried. Leak proof and doesn’t stick!!! Keeps your drinks super cold, AND the lid is a jigger…I mean, it is fantastic! I love XOX products, I’ve not been disappointed Ted yet. Highly recommend this one!

Cocktail Kingdom’s Leopold Weighted Shaking Tins are a favorite of many professional bartenders since they are designed for experts. You’ll never have to worry about the shakers becoming stuck together since they’re so simple to open and shut. You may stack them without fear of the tiny tin being caught within the bigger one. These tins come in conventional 18- and 28-ounce sizes and are constructed of dishwasher-safe stainless steel for professional and household use.
I was nervous about getting this shaker because a lot of the articles I read said that this shaker was for the professionals and it took some getting used to.I was pleasantly surprised to find that this shaker was extremely easy to use! I had no issues getting a seal at all. This is hands down the best cocktail shaker you can buy.

This Rabbit cocktail shaker is perfect for novices since it’s simple to use and clean. A strainer, tin, and lid are all incorporated into one simple shaker in an all-in-one design. To make a cocktail, flip the lid—the top of the cup features measurement lines so you can make drinks directly in the shaker, no jigger necessary. When you lift the lid, you’ll see a built-in strainer. The 18-ounce tin’s innovative bayonet cover firmly latches into place, enabling you to shake drinks as fiercely as you want. But there’s no need to shake too hard—the double-walled stainless steel enables the beverages inside to cold swiftly while keeping the containers warm to the touch on the outside.
Best shaker I've ever owned. My hands are weak and it's too hard to pull the lid off a typical shaker as it "freezes on" when you shake it with the ice. This one, however, twists off so it's perfect. And I love the streamlined look. A+

Invest in this high-quality cocktail kit from Crafthouse by Fortessa to take your bartending talents to the next level. This four-piece kit, designed by legendary bartender Charles Joly, has everything you’ll need to prepare cocktails, including a two-piece Boston shaker, 2-ounce jigger, Hawthorne strainer, and muddler. The stainless steel 15-ounce shaker, strainer, and jigger are dishwasher safe, while the 11.5-inch muddler is crafted of deep black walnut and should be washed by hand.
Very high quality components. The Boston shakers are nice and heavy and the muddler stick is the nicest one I’ve ever seen. Makes crushing mint for Mojito’s a snap.

This set is highly recommended because of its weight and durability, as well as the fact that it is less expensive than many other shaker sets on the market. To prevent pitting and corrosion, the hand-wash-only shakers are plated in 18/8 stainless steel. An 18- and 28-ounce shaker set, as well as a Japanese-style jigger with an elongated form for smooth, simple pours, are included in each set. Each jigger comes with a two-ounce pourer and a dual-sided ounce. A 13-inch teardrop-end bar spoon and a heavy-duty Hawthorn strainer are also included, giving you everything you need to make a drink or four.
I like my barfly set. So much so that I buy them to gift to others. Good quality and sleek design. Shout-out to Greg from How2Drink.

The set is built of sturdy materials, giving it a good weight and allowing for simple separation. Compared to regular sets, the tins are heavier. This set is comprised of thicker, higher-grade steel with 360 welds, so you’ll never have to worry about a weighted cap falling off again. This set includes two tins, one with a capacity of 28 ounces and the other with a capacity of 18 ounces.
I'm an amateur who likes to make drinks for friends and family at home. I decided to splurge on a decent shaker. This one did not disappoint. With my amateur skills, this works perfectly. It comes apart easily after shaking but does not come apart during shaking. It is easy to clean and works perfectly. Exactly what I was looking for.

These shakers are welded all the way around, not just in three places like conventional shakers, making them stronger and last longer. They’re also reasonably priced in comparison to other high-end shakers. These shakers are available in both weighted and unweighted versions. If you’re a flair bartender who likes to shake their beverages very violently, the weighted set is the way to go. It won’t shatter during your cocktail-making antics. If you’re a speedy bartender, a home aficionado, or just have trouble popping the tin off after you’ve finished shaking, the weighted/unweighted combo is the way to go. Food-grade stainless steel with a copper-coated finish is also used to make the shaker sets.
I picked this up to start playing around making shaken cocktails. Never used a boston shaker before this but found the quality of the tins to be pretty good especially for the price. After using it pretty consistently for a bit over a month it's still showing no signs of scratches or anything of that nature.

Look no further if you’re seeking a shaker that’s both attractive and functional. This cocktail shaker is made of matte black stainless steel and has a gleaming gold cover. Pop off the gold top to reveal a built-in jigger with a 1.5-ounce measurement carved into the design, but its elegant form is also utilitarian. A well-constructed, integrated reamer for juicing citrus is also hidden behind the lid. With a capacity of 22 ounces and a height of 9.3 inches, this sleek shaker is ideal for single-serving cocktails. Shaking keeps hands warm because of the double-walled construction.
Bought this at Sur La Table and its the best shaker I've ever owned! Often times other shakers find a way to leak or don't leak and the top is difficult to take off the product. Neither is the case with the RBT cocktail shaker. Really impressed with the black and gold design as well so I can keep this on my bar shelf and don't have to hide it away in my cabinet.
