Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Some matters to discuss...
How should a kid's bike helmet fit?
– Measure your child’s head
– Adjust the chin strap
– Check the helmet’s resting position
– Give it a whack
How do bike helmet pads work?
Pads allow the interior of the helmet to be tailored to the form of children’s heads. Begin by securing them to the front, rear, and sides of the helmet, allowing some openings for air movement. They should make a complete circle around the head. Pads come in a variety of thicknesses, so you may experiment to see what works best for your child and replace thicker ones with thinner ones as they become older. In the end, employing the handy-dandy instructions above, pads should be the finishing touch on your road to snug-but-comfortable.
What materials are in a helmet?
There are 4 basic materials that helmet shells are made of:
– Plastic/ABS
– Fiberglass
– Carbon fibre
– Kevlar/Dyneema/Aramid
How to choose a perfect helmet size?
Wrap a tape measure horizontally over your forehead to determine your head size. Choose the helmet that fits your head the best. A helmet should be snugly fitted to your head. It’s too big if it moves while you’re wearing it. It’s too tiny if it hurts to wear it. Your local dealer will be able to assist you with suitable sizing. Starting at the forehead, open the chin straps and put the helmet onto your head.
10 Reviews: Best Toddler Bike and Scooter Helmet (Dec 2023)

1.Giro
Scamp Youth Recreational Helmet
Best all-around
The Scamp has an outstanding reputation, with lightweight in-mold construction, a dial-adjust mechanism, and optional MIPS technology, making it one of our best bike helmets for toddlers or newborns. MIPS helmets aren’t cheap, but the Scamp is one of the most affordable options. Most customers have enjoyed using this Scamp throughout the years since it is so much lighter, more comfortable, and less bulky than any other helmet.
Crates protective at lightweight helmet. Our toddler is two and this fits her just great.

2.Schwinn
Kids Bike Helmet
Best for tiny heads
The Schwinn Infant is the tiniest infant bicycle helmet on the market. The Giro Scamp accommodates skulls as little as 45 cm, whereas the Schwinn Infant is smaller, narrower, and fits heads as small as 44 cm. While the quality isn’t as good as the Scamp’s and the pads aren’t as soft, it’s a good small helmet for your infant for about $17. It also has a dial-adjust mechanism, which is excellent for the price.
Love this helmet for my grand babies

3.Joovy
Noodle Multi-Sport Helmet
Best bang for your buck
The Joovy Noodle was created with the youngest children in mind. Its minimal weight allows a youngster to wear it while maintaining control over their neck and head motions. The Noodle is more stable on smaller skulls thanks to the chin straps looped through the rear dial-adjust, and the separated straps also make the helmet much simpler to put on. The chin buckle’s dual-color makes it simpler to notice and get on and off a moving child.
The helmet is light weight and has a strap to adjust the size. Both of the girls loved wearing these, in fact one did not want to take it off! I like that they have a front bill that protects the face in case of a fall.

4.Giro
Tremor MIPS Unisex Helmet
Mountain bike styling
A smaller version of the Giro Tremor is now available. The Giro Tremor Child is designed to accommodate the tiny skulls of baby shredders, with a head circumference range of 47 to 54 cm, and is narrower and less bulky than its big brother. The Tremor Child’s interior is somewhat deeper and broader than the Scamp’s, in addition to the apparent stylistic differences. The Tremor Kid might be a better alternative if your child has a taller or broader head.
Great helmet, love the bright green so I can spot my son speeding around on his bike. It offers great protection and he likes wearing it, a double win.

5.Schwinn
Kids Bike Helmet
Dial-adjust system
The Schwinn Toddler bike helmet is similar to the Schwinn Infant, but it is designed for older children. It comes in a variety of really entertaining patterns. While the quality isn’t as good as some of the others on our list, it’s still better than a Walmart helmet. A dial-adjust tightening device is included, which is uncommon at this pricing range. However, bear in mind that altering a helmet for a suitable fit at this price range might be difficult.
Bought for our toddler to ride a scooter. She loves it and doesn’t want to take it off so it must be comfortable. Super cute and provides the protection she needs. Recommend!

6.Raskullz
Dinosaur Toddler Helmet
Aerodynamic vents
When a fun helmet for small boys features dinosaurs or sharks, like in our first example from Raskullz, it receives a tremendous boost. It’s a helmet they’ll want to put on all the time, and it’s also practical. It is constructed of non-toxic thermoplastic rubber. The helmet is made out of a smooth expanded polystyrene shell that has been molded and fashioned to look like a dinosaur’s head. With huge eyes, nostrils, and a mouth with teeth, it has a rough and scale-like look.
I needed a toddler helmet and somehow ended up on a child's helmet so unfortunately it was too large for my kiddo but it was made very nicely and easily adjustable wish it would've been small enough for him.

A layer of polyester rests on the inside of the helmet, keeping moisture at away.
This helmet is fully functional but also adorable! It’s comfortable to wear and doesn’t weigh a ton for my daughter!

Safe and features extra padding
The teddy bear has button eyes and a kind nose and mouth, and it’s really charming for newborns and toddlers. The two large ears are the ideal finishing touch, giving it a three-dimensional appearance. The teddy bear is more than simply adorable; it’s also a cutting-edge helmet with top-notch safety features. It’s CPSC-approved, featuring impact-absorbing foam and a back-mounted 360-degree dial fit gauge. The bear’s ears serve as additional protection in the event of a collision.
Super cute helmet. Fit my almost one year old son perfectly after tightening. Assume it will fit him for 1-2 more years. The integrated visor was great and kept most of the sun out of his eyes. Made everyone we pass smile.

10.Smart4u
Smart Helmet
All-round Breathable
The lights will glow for 2 seconds when the smart helmet’s built-in accelerometer sensor detects a significant deceleration, acting as brake lights to signal traffic and pedestrians that you are slowing down. By toggling three lighting settings – flashing light, rapid flashing light, and tidal light – using the buttons on the back of the helmet, it will warn vehicles and let other cyclists behind you quickly discern your direction. Riding at night is safer and more reliable.
Nice design, works perfect for me. Helmet is not heavy, yet it’s well padded and comfortable. Not warm when worn for a long period. Love it and highly recommend
