Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
In case you wanna know...
What is a water leak detector?
A water leak detector is made up of sensors, valves, and a central hub. Water detectors can be standalone devices or they can have sensors that go into the water. There are two types of detectors: one that stands on its own and the other that connects to a cable and can be used in small places, like behind water heaters. The best water leak detectors sound a high-decibel alarm, send notifications to your smart devices, and automatically turn off the water to stop the leak from getting any worse.
What is the benefits of water leak detector?
– Prevent costly repairs
– Protect your home
– Avoid safety risks
– Reduce utility bills
– Remote monitoring
How many water leak sensors should I get?
The number of water leak sensors you need is determined by the amount of area you need to cover. In general, placing a sensor beneath each sink, washing machine, water heater, and dishwasher is a good idea. Additional high-risk regions may need the purchase of additional sensors. Some leak detecting systems can monitor up to 30 sensors, while others can only monitor five.
What causes water leaks?
The most typical causes of water leaks include loose water connections, sudden temperature fluctuations, blocked lines, damaged seals, and rust. You may have an underground water leak if your energy costs are increasing but you can’t find a water leak within your home. Shifting soil, insect infestation, or natural wear and tear might all contribute to this.

Phyn
Plus Smart Water Assistant
Monitor your water usage
Sensors deliberately positioned in the route of a suspected leak are not used by the Phyn Plus. The device is instead mounted on the main water line entering your house, near the shut-off valve (professional installation is suggested), and it functions by sensing variations in water pressure hundreds of times per minute. It learns where water is consumed (with your aid). When a leak is detected, the Phyn Plus can notify you and switch off the water supply if you are not at home.
Well worth the money. Detected a small leak the first week I had the product in use, even before it was fully trained. Awesome investment and added piece of mind.

Fibaro
FGFS-101 Flood Sensor
Longer battery life
The Fibaro is tiny enough to fit in the palm of your hand and tall enough to fit beneath appliances and in tight locations where leaks might occur. Three telescopic gold-plated feet keep it in place even on an uneven surface (imagine grout between tiles), and if the feet become wet, an alarm and notifications go off. In the case of overheating, fire, or freezing circumstances, a temperature sensor will alert you if the temperature rises or falls.
I have this set up with an automatic cut off valve. This sensor triggers an alarm and will turn on the lights in the bedroom and living room when it senses water. Having both was the most cost efficient solution. There are all in ones that would be a bit simpler but they cost a lot more. This sensor works perfectly in tandem with the valve cut off switch.
