"So far we've only used this with 120V and 1/8" thick new mild steel material. Rod size, best to use 3/32" 6011 rods (Hobart brand is what we have and highly recommend them) rather than 1/8" with 120V . We tried 1/8" 5P rods and it will work once it strikes the arc, but getting that first strike is so tricky that it's not very much fun."
