CompactFlash is also physically huge by today’s memory card standards, but that doesn’t mean it can’t provide enough storage and performance for today’s DSLR users. So you don’t have to constantly switch cards in the middle of the action, the SanDisk range has capacities ranging from 16GB to 256GB. It also impresses with a write speed of up to 140MB/s at a maximum capacity of 256GB, making it ideal for Full HD video capture.

Sandisk is my go to card. They take a licken and keep on recording images. Will never use anything else in my cameras.

Both standard and Pro versions of SanDisk’s Extreme SD cards are available. Although the Pro cards are significantly more costly, even this standard Extreme card has UHS Speed Class 3 compatibility, allowing it to record in both Full HD and 4K. Data read speeds of up to 90MB/s and write speeds of up to 40MB/s are possible with a 16GB SanDisk Extreme card. These aren’t mind-blowing figures, but they’ll suffice for most photographic purposes. Water, shock, temperature, and X-ray resistance are all features that outdoor photographers will appreciate.

I bought this for my nikon d5600 camera and it works great. Holds so many I interested and a lot of video.

Whether you’re shooting raw data or high-resolution video, the Transcend SDXC UHS-II U3 is a powerhouse. While the maximum capacity of 64GB (the alternative is 32GB) may look tiny at first glance when compared to other alternatives available, the performance is anything but, with reading and write speeds of 285MB/s and 180MB/s, respectively. Speeds are up to 3x quicker than ordinary UHS-I SD memory cards when used with a UHS-II compliant DSLR or camcorder. This card is also shock and X-ray-resistant, offering gamers and professionals more piece of mind.

I bought this as an archive quality storage device. It costs more than similar solid state drives, but I hope that it is more reliable than other drives--solid state drives are notoriously unreliable.

SanDisk was one of the first companies to launch CFexpress Type B cards, and its Extreme Pro line continues to be a force to be reckoned with. Only a few competing cards can match its read and write speeds of up to 1700MB/s and 1400MB/s, respectively. These speed rates, however, are only applicable to the top-of-the-line 512GB version, so you’ll have to pay a lot of money to receive them. The range’s 128GB and 256GB cards can only write at 1200MB/s (the 1700MB/s read speed remains the same), while the 64GB card is only rated for 1500MB/s read and 800MB/s write.

Type A and Type B CFexpress cards are now available for purchase. The latter is far more common, and it is backed by a far larger number of cameras. Both are based on the same technology, however, the number of PCIe data transmission lanes accessible differs. As a result, Type A cards have a theoretical maximum data bandwidth of 1000MB/s, but Type B cards have a theoretical maximum data bandwidth of 2000MB/s. So, why is Sony supporting the slowest Type A CFexpress standard of 1000MB/s when faster Type B cards are currently available? Everything boils down to compactness.

This card has super fast read and write speed, and weather sealing but unless you're shooting extreme sports action you can get away with (Kingston) V90 SD cards. Plus these are a little pricey for 80GB.

When it comes to reading performance, Lexar’s CFexpress card shines, with a maximum rating of 1750MB/s, slightly above the 1700MB/s promised by several competitors. The 1000MB/s write rate, on the other hand, is less spectacular and falls behind the majority of the competitors. Even so, you’ll need to record 4K or 8K video with a very high bit rate to avoid getting into difficulties. The capacities range from 64GB to 512GB, and all come with a limited lifetime warranty for added peace of mind.
