Misery

A Masterpiece Psychological Thriller Book

$13.69
Our opinion:

In his best-selling novel Misery, Stephen King drew on his fear of being a writer and appealing to a legion of devoted followers. You might feel the same anxiety as he did when reading this book. During a vehicle accident, Paul Sheldon meets his biggest fan: Annie Wilkes, a nurse taking care of Paul while his body is destroyed. However, it soon becomes apparent that Annie is more than just Paul’s carer when the two are in such a fragile state. In addition, she’s the one holding him hostage.

"Great thriller storytelling. The author is very talented in creating these strange characters that on the surface appear to be normal.

There has been a Gone Girl effect on psychological thriller readers everywhere since Gillian Flynn’s best-selling novel came out. Amy Dunne went missing on Nick and Amy’s fifth wedding anniversary. Our opinion:

You can’t go wrong with Daphne Du Maurier’s classic thriller novel. Maxim de Winter, a gorgeous widower, takes the narrator under his wing when she works as a lady’s maid in Monte Carlo. Manderley, his stunning estate, welcomes her back as his wife after their hasty engagement and hasty marriage. She rapidly learns, however, that she is not the genuine mistress of the estate since the household will not let her forget the memories of Rebecca, de Winter’s first wife, who drowned the year before.

Shutter Island

An Intriguing Psychological Thriller Book

Our opinion:

Dennis Lehane’s Shutter Island is a mind-bending psychological thriller. In 1954, U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels and his new colleague, Chuck Aule, visited Ashecliffe Hospital for the Criminally Insane on Shutter Island. Rachel Solando, a murderer, disappeared despite being imprisoned in a cell and under observation. Teddy and Chuck won’t leave Shudder Island until they know what happened to Rachel Solando, but nothing is as it seems.

Strangers on a Train

An Artful Psychological Thriller Book

price from
$8.59
Our opinion:

For a good cause, Patricia Highsmith’s Strangers on a Train begins. All the elements of a classic noir thriller are here in Highsmith’s novel: intrigue; a fast-moving plot; tension; and, yes, murder. Although the acclaimed Hitchcock adaptation is well-known, the story itself is worth reading. Guy Haines and Charles Anthony Bruno, two guys who meet on a train, are the subjects of this book. As they discussed their problems, Bruno devised a diabolical plan: if Haines kills his wife, he’ll kill Bruno’s father.
