She infiltrates a merchant’s family to investigate missing shipments. But, nothing is as it seems in this home, which has many secrets.

She does not want to be recognized in New Orleans as the daughter of a prostitute because her mother did not provide for her properly when she was a child. Josie becomes involved in investigating a murder after a death that occurs at the bookstore where she works. One in which her mother might be participating or might not be involved at all.
