Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Just in case you wanna know...
Should I have a notebook for each subject?
Depends. Some people like to organize their notes by subject, while others prefer to keep everything in one notebook. Basically, one notebook is enough to keep you on track. However, if it makes it hard for you to locate a certain record, simply split them.
Is notebook paperweight important?
Paperweight is essential in a work notebook to avoid ink bleeding or ghosting on pages. The GSM (grams per square meter) of a notebook is a helpful method to determine paperweight. The higher you go, the thicker and heavier the paper will be.
What to write on notebooks?
You can write literally anything. If you are a student, you can write down course summaries, countless assignments, and other things that are related to your college life. If you’re working, keep track of all your monthly goals and meeting results. There’s no limit to that. As for the style, you can use a highlighter to give an aesthetic touch to your note’s taking.
What notebook style should I use?
1. Gridded, which looks like graph paper (or any variant of small squares), is excellent for people who like designing or drawing.
2. Lined is ideal for writing narrative entries.
3. Dotted, a popular bullet journaling style, is ideal for creating your own checklists, calendars, and even headings.
4. Those who do not want any limits or restrictions should use blank pages.

This Rhodia Classic Notepad is a great option for fountain pen enthusiasts looking for a 6 by 8.25-inch notepad with grid paper. When used in combination with a high-quality pen, you will notice a significant improvement in your entire writing experience. I use this daily for notes. Fantastic for fountain pens. Smooth creamy paper and no bleeding or smearing.

Are you drawn to more classic styles rather than all-out contemporary options? Clairefontaine has reintroduced its original covers for this 1951 set of notepads. The A5 pad has 96 sheets of ruled, 90g white paper with a satin texture for a pleasant writing experience. Fountain pens are a throwback to a bygone period, so those who love using them will appreciate the antique style of this collection.
Been a fan of Clairefontaine for years, and not just because it's wonderful with my fountain pens. I've found that it works just as well with gel pens like Inkjoy and Energel. This paper is like a little luxury and makes writing enjoyable.

This Minimalism Art notebook is a fantastic bargain, featuring 122 pages of ink proof, acid-free 120gsm ivory paper, and leatherette covers. This notebook is a work of art. It makes you want to keep writing on it. It is sturdy, beautiful and the quality of the paper is superior. As advertised, the fountain pen ink does not seep into the next page. A joy to behold and a joy to hold.

The Apica Premium C.D. Notebook is another stylish and dependable choice, featuring 96 pages of smooth paper and a 7mm rule. You’ll be eager to use your fountain pen on this paper after you’ve felt the surface. It not only works well with a broad range of nibs and inks, but it also works well with other kinds of pens. Without any toothy sensation or friction, your pen will simply glide across its surface.
*Sigh*. This notebook is perfect. I love it so much. I have just started getting into fountain pens, and the paper in this notebook is PERFECT. It is so smooth, and the pen just glides across it (I am using a Pilot Metropolitan). Couldn't be happier.

This three-pack of Field Notes notebooks stands out above other pint-sized notebooks as an iconic option for anybody who needs to write things down on the move. What the 3.5-by-5.5-inch ruled notebooks lack in size and features (no elastic, pockets, or bookmarks), they make up for with thick 90 GSM pages that are robust enough to hold fountain pen ink without adding too much weight.
Perfect small notebook to take with you on the go and write down information that you might forget. I always carry one with me and write down stuff that I would not likely remember when I get home. [...]

The Rhodia A4 notebook is perfect if you want a spiral-bound notepad that opens flat from the top. With 80 perforated pages including the choice of dotted, ruled, or grid paper, you may choose the layout that works best for you. The pages are just 80 GSM thick, however, reviewers remark that the excellent quality paper does not seem to have any problems with bleeding.
I love Rhodia paper. It feels so soft and I can practice my penmanship with a fountain pen and the ink doesn't bleed as it does with Moleskine paper.
|Dimensions||6 x 4 x 1 in|
At first look, this ruled A5 notebook does not seem to be spectacular, but it is robust, practical, and full of helpful features that will make you want to use it every day. And, of course, fountain pen enthusiasts will appreciate how the ruled notebook’s 160 pages of 120 GSM paper absorb ink so nicely, allowing you to write cleanly and smoothly. When using the notebook, the lay-flat design makes things simpler.
This journal is a great size and seems to be very sturdy. The paper they use is perfect for fountain pens (if you use them) and thicker than normal. This is the perfect journal for keeping your thoughts, doodles, ideas, and musings.
|Dimensions||5.83 x 0.91 x 8.5 in|
If you enjoy the appearance of a classic, leather-bound journal, you’ll love this A5 notebook from Beechmore Books. While the faux-leather cover is appealing, the notebook’s 120 GSM sheets, which are excellent for handling fountain pen ink, are the true stars of the show. Moreover, the 80 cream-colored double-sided sheets of paper are ruled, making them perfect for writing.
This is a solid journal. The cover is flexible enough for comfort but sturdy so it’s not like a moleskin journal. Pages are clean and write well with a fountain pen. I like that it was an elastic closure. I e been happy so far with this journal.
