Extra derailleur hanger!? All bolts properly torqued! I feel like I was assembling an adult bike – haha! When I went to my local bike shop to show it off they said “even adult bikes don’t come with valve stems in the box” and blown away with the quality. You did a really good job. My son loves his new bike!

From tire tread to seat, the Specialized Riprock 24′′ is a superb bike that’s been intelligently reduced down to kid-size. Rather than just downsizing the adult MTB frame, its geometry has been reinvented for regular child proportions. And, unlike other less expensive kid’s cycles, this one has features like hydraulic disc brakes, internal cable routing, and a wider-range transmission for ups and downs that are now standard on MTBs. The cranks are shorter, the seat is narrower than typical, and the grips are thinner than the standard adult model.

My 8 year old has been riding a 20 inch Trek Wahoo for a couple years and was finally ready to move up. We decided to visit our local MTB shop (Dirt Rooster) and commit to the new RipRock. So far she loves the paint scheme, the aggressive tires and everything between works perfect for her. It's definitely a bike she feels comfortable on from riding to school to bombing the trails in our local state park.

A closed front dropout ensures that even if the skewer isn’t correctly closed, the wheel won’t fly out and cause a calamity. It’s not the lightest at 25.58lbs, but half of that weight is due to the plus-sized 2.8′′ wide tires, which provide plenty of grips and excellent compliance.

Wow. Bike design has come a long ways since I was a kid.. This thing rocks. My 4 almost 5 yr old boy rips on this thing. For the money it's well worth it if you have a kid that enjoys riding with you. The plus sized tires smooth the ride when you get the pressure right. He's figuring out the gears and can climb right up the hills. The trigger shifters are a lot easier for kids to operate than grip shifters, in my opinion. I am impressed by how light it is. I haven't weighed it but by feel it's lighter than the 20" bmx type bike he was riding. He'll probably outgrow it in 2 years but then younger bro can inherit it:)
