I mounted over 20 pounds of gear atop this thing without any flex or slipping. The twist locks are fantastic, just like on my Gitzo tripod. This is a very nice monopod; well priced and apparent quality. However, I shoot high-end point and shoot cameras and a monopod does not offer the stability I need to shoot in low light. So, reluctantly I returned it. However, if I were shooting a DSLR, using the viewfinder rather than the screen to compose my photos, I would have kept this rather than return it as I did. It's much more stable with the camera to your face than with your arms outstretched. This monopod is ideal in weight and size for travel and would complement any photographer's arsenal.
