This box supports all of the major US cable providers, and it’s a better bargain than our other picks. Its Wi-Fi speeds on the 5 GHz band can be excessive, reaching up to 1,300 Mbps compared to the modem portion’s maximum speed of 686 Mbps. ARRIS recommends utilizing this combination device with plans with speeds of up to 400 Mbps.

This is the best combo router. It is so easy to install and set up. My last one, by Motorola, lasted almost 8 yrs with no issues. The surfboard, is by far, the most user friendly.

The Netgear C6220 AC1200 has one major advantage: it is reasonably priced! Who is this model intended for? People who rent modems from their cable providers don’t have super-large houses, don’t have a super-fast connection (no more than a 200Mbps connection, which your cable company can tell you if you have), and don’t have a lot of extra devices to link up. There are just two ethernet ports, allowing you to connect devices using a cable, which is speedier and more dependable.

Honestly the best combo of modem/router that you’re gonna get for cheap. Works beautifully and didn’t break the wallet.

If speed is important to you, this ARRIS modem/router combination will not disappoint. This tiny guy can manage a lot of internet traffic thanks to a maximum throughput of up to 600 Mbps. Four gigabit Ethernet ports allow you to connect your devices directly in for maximum speed, or you may use the built-in AC2350 Wi-Fi. While the SURFboard gadget can handle internet rates of up to 600 Mbps, various cable internet providers have certified it for different speed tiers.

I replaced my 6 year old Asus "combo" with this unit. It is powerful enough to send strong signal over 3 story's in our home. I had initial setup issue that Arris Tech Support solved for me (user error) quickly. I would recommend this and purchase again. Five stars!

If you have a very fast internet connection and believe you’ll be able to upgrade to a faster connection sooner rather than later, we recommend the CAX80. This is also an excellent gaming router since the onboard Ethernet, which allows you to connect your Xbox or Playstation via cable rather of Wi-Fi, is far faster than the Ethernet you’re probably accustomed to. You’ll need to check a lot of boxes to get the most out of this modem/router, but if that’s you, you’ve just met your future internet connection.

Modem/Router combo works great, and allows me the same internet speeds as renting the modem from the cable internet service. Coverage is fine.

Netgear’s Nighthawk C7800 not only allows you to take advantage of the fastest cable internet speeds available now and in the future, but it also provides excellent coverage for a big and busy household. It’s a fantastic product. If we had to choose between the two Netgear items on this page, we’d go with the CAX80 simply because it looks better. That being said, if we came across this one on sale… It’s difficult to defeat. It’s quick, has a lot of connections, and its four antennas may assist cover a big home.

Modem/Router combo works great, and allows me the same internet speeds as renting the modem from the cable internet service. Coverage is fine.

The Orbi CBK752 differs from the other goods on this page. It’s the same modem/router combination, but instead of being one device, it’s two to guarantee your house is covered with a strong Wi-Fi signal—and if you have a very big home, you can add more to achieve nearly infinite coverage. Instead of having strong and weak areas in your house, the Orbi units communicate with one another to ensure that the signal is strong throughout. At least, that’s the plan. Configuration is a breeze thanks to user-friendly software.

I had my previous cable modem router combo for five years. It was definitely time for an upgrade and the Orbi seemed like a great choice and it has been for me.
