The NETGEAR CM500 is a cable modem that uses the DOCSIS 3.0 standard with 164 channel bonding technology. It is intended to provide maximum download rates of up to 680 Mbps, making it suited for high bandwidth applications such as online gaming or HD video streaming. Furthermore, its installation and configuration processes are simple. The sole disadvantage of this cable modem is that its firmware can only be upgraded by your internet service provider.

This is a great modem compared to others. really no issues with speed. I've only had to restart it once in the last 3 months compared to the Comcast modem that I had to restart every other week.

Except for more desire for more informative LEDs, I can't complain. It's been rock solid in using with Comcast. I subscribe to their 16Mbps (Performance Internet) service, which you would think would be not too much of a challenge. But I have had issues with other cable modems.

Has bee in service several years with no issues. Does a great job with my Comcast cable internet service. Does run a little hot (as do all cable modems) so I placed a small 12VDC fan next to it to blow air into it to extend its life.

Needed a Comcast approved modem that would work at 100 mb/s and higher. Was able to switch out the other modem which I also owned and get this working without a phone call to Comcast. Just know that the second ethernet port is not active, as Comcast only provides one IP unless you purchase a second IP before using.
