Musical trends have evolved dramatically in the past year. In addition to recording at home, an increasing number of artists are creating music-focused material and streaming performances. For those on a limited budget, getting started in the music recording and production industry may be very time-consuming. For this reason, it’s critical to have access to quality products at reasonable prices. These are some of the finest mics under $100 on the market today.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why do I need a microphone?

Some individuals desire the freedom of utilizing a computer recording tool on their own computer, but they also want to be able to secretly record conversations. Others opt for an external microphone that may be utilized with a variety of recording software to increase their chances of getting a sound recording. Others want their voice to be heard clearly even if they are standing far away from the speakers in a room or studio.

What are the types of mics?

– The most common kind of microphone used for acoustic or acoustic-electric instruments is the condenser microphone. They are also the most sensitive and cost-effective option.
– Diaphrasing is a word used in audio engineering to describe the unwanted distortions that may be detected in condenser recordings.

Which is better: XLR or USB microphones?

– USB microphones are largely plug-and-play, needing minimal sound understanding. You plug it in, hit the record button on the program, and you’re ready to go. They’re also reasonably priced.
– XLR microphones are recommended for more advanced tasks. This enables you to utilize many microphones at the same time while keeping tactile control over sound levels. Using an XLR microphone, on the other hand, necessitates the acquisition of extra equipment.

What can I do to improve the quality of my Zoom microphone?

– Use a high-resolution audio microphone.
– Optimize and test your studio microphone.
– Put a stop to the echo.
– It’d be better if you didn’t stand too close to the microphone.
– If sound processing is troubling you, turn it off.
– Make sure your internet connection is reliable.

Our opinion:

When it comes to condenser microphones, AT2020 is the race horse. There isn’t a better word to describe this mic than “amazing.” You’ll receive the right blend of utility, fantastic design, appropriate hardware, and excellent performance. While it is unlikely that many professionals would utilize AT2020 for high-end productions, it has made its way into a number of hobbyist and even semi-professional recording studios throughout the globe. Look no farther if you’re seeking for an all-around excellent performance.

Promising review:

I've been recording for 50 years, both music and audio books and this is the best mic I've ever used except when in top end recording studios. The difference between those top-end microphones and this one? My engineer says (with a smile) "About a thousand dollars..."

Snowball iCE Plug 'n Play USB Microphone

Great for Beginner Mic

price from
$39.99
Our opinion:

If you’re not convinced about condensers, Blue Snowball iCE may be a good compromise. It’s a condenser microphone that doesn’t need phantom power. Instead of an XLR cable, a USB cable may be used to connect it to your computer. In terms of performance, this tiny style ball delivers a good punch. You have a solid recording pattern and a well-tuned sensitivity profile. This mic is great for starting a podcast or recording voice in general.

Promising review:

I got this mic for singing and I know many musicians are searching for this review so here I am. Sound quality is lovely, super easy to use and I haven't found anything to complain about. You can hear the audio yourself in the video. If you are looking for a mic on a budget then I 100% recommend getting this one!!

4.
MXL
770 Cardioid Condenser Microphone

Reliable Performance Mic

price from
$84.95
Our opinion:

This MXL 770, which is about as common as they get. This mic, on the other hand, works. Reliable performance is sometimes preferable than dazzling new features. MXL 770, on the other hand, is not to be taken lightly. A high pass filter and a -10dB pad are included with this microphone. These features are still uncommon at this price range. With being stated, even for MXL, the overall build quality is extremely impressive and instills trust.

Promising review:

I use this microphone for a podcast as well as a youtube channel and it fits my deeper voice very well. It has a rich and warm tone that I used to need to do a lot of equalization to get back when I used my old NW700. This blows that one out of the water. I would suggest getting a pop filter or windscreen when buying this as well to block out plosives and help reduce a bit of background noise.

Razer Seiren X USB Streaming Microphone - Best Microphone Under 100: Multi-function Gaming Mic
https://www.amazon.com/

5.
Razer
Seiren X USB Streaming Microphone

Multi-function Gaming Mic

price from
$59.99
Our opinion:

The Razer Seiren X is an intriguing condenser that claims to provide a better gaming experience to its customers. In truth, this USB condenser has a number of innovative features. For starters, it has a built-in shock mount that performs well. Then there’s the super cardioid polar pattern, which gives you a little more accuracy and directional input. All of these characteristics come in helpful for recording acoustic instruments and voices, as it turns out.

Promising review:

I use the Razer Seiren X with Audacity, right now. It makes the audio levels more extreme, so it seems louder and hurts your ears more. The best audio level to have your audio at is -12DB. Once it is set to that, there is little to none background noise. Because your voice is picked up as really loud, and it picks up a natural amount of background noise, lowering the decibels to -12 makes the background noise almost invisible. Perfect mic for what I need it for

Shure
MV5-B-LTG Microphone

Mic with Vocal Recording Profiles Selections

price from
$99.00
Our opinion:

The Shure MV5 provides something unique that may be appealing to new users and those who just want to capture music. As you could expect, it’s a USB microphone with a retro style and a lot more. It has above-average clarity and sound quality for a digital condenser in this price range. Shure has put in multiple unique recording profiles rather of bothering you with polar patterns, attenuation, and other things. If you’re recording voice, you may choose the Vocals profile, or the Instrument profile if you’re recording acoustic instruments.

Promising review:

Because I've been full time work-from-home for a year (and hopefully, indefinitely) and have multiple online meetings every week (usually via Google Meet), I really needed a decent mic. This one is near podcast quality. (I don't know if a professional would actually use it, but I think they might find it to be adequate.) At about $100, it's more than most people will probably spend for WFH, but I really want to sound professional and be easily understood in these meetings. This mic works great for me.

Samson
C01 Cardioid Condenser Microphone

Precise Speech Recording Mic

price from
$75.77
Our opinion:

This microphone does not have any high-speed features. In terms of design, it’s about as generic as it gets. Its function, however, takes precedence above its appearance. This gadget has a 19mm diaphragm, which means it can pick up a lot of subtleties in your speech. The microphone works well with a wide range of amplifiers and isn’t finicky or fussy.

Promising review:

I've owned a variety of mics over the years and this is by far the best one for the price. As a former DJ and current twitch streamer I rely on it to provide the same professional quality sound typically found in recording studios and radio stations. The tone is precise before any pass-through, and when used with a windscreen or foam ball to limit breath and popping noises, it will become your go to microphone. Best bang for your buck by far.

https://www.amazon.com/

8.
MXL
V67G Large Capsule Condenser Microphone

Retro Design Mic

price from
$73.72
Our opinion:

The MXL V67G makes putting up a competent home recording studio a breeze. This mic has pretty much everything. From retro appearances to performance, there’s something for everyone. What makes the MXLV67G such a compelling bundle has nothing to do with features, since there are none. You’ll receive a rock solid combination of gear that includes a large 32mm condenser capsule, a very sensitive diaphragm, and a good preamp to handle it all. In usually, you just need a few basic items.

Promising review:

I did a lot of research before purchasing , on you tube and internet, for the price this is , in my opinion the best condenser mic for vocals under $100, I've worked with some high end mics before and this one outshines them, have not used it on instruments, but for vocals it catches the nuances of you voice and has a great well balanced sound

9.
NEAT Microphones
Worker Bee Cardioid Condenser Microphone

Microphone with Shockmount

price from
$79.00
Our opinion:

The Worker Bee is a cardioid pattern condenser microphone with a medium diaphragm for usage with high-SPL sound sources. It has discrete, class A electronics, as well as an internal shockmount that keeps handling noise to a minimum. The Neat Microphones Worker Bee has a home in your mic locker if you’re searching for a terrific all-around mic with a tonality that sweetens often harsh sound sources and gives body to booming drumming.

Promising review:

I was not super enthused about the design of this mic at first but I've totally fallen in love! The quality of everything you get is unreal I have nothing but good things to say, best mic for value by far! With that being said I use my own pop filter and not the one that comes with the mic, as well as the draw string of the soft carry bag broke but I suggest getting a hard case for this mic anyway since you save so much on the actual mic it's worth it.

https://www.amazon.com/

10.
Shure
PGA181-LC Side-address Microphone

Versatile Condenser Mic

price from
$99.00
Our opinion:

The Shure PGA181 is a versatile cardioid condenser microphone with a side-address configuration. It has a maximum SPL of 138dB, making it suitable for even the loudest sound sources. The frequency response is consistent and clear, making it suitable for anything from singing to symphonic percussion. The PGA181 is a flexible microphone that gets the job done, and it’s a perfect choice if you need a first mic for your music production endeavors.

Promising review:

Using this single mic for vocals and banjo. Works very well. The tone and clarity is very good. Best in a studio or where extra sound is minimal. It's sensitive, using it live is possible but not just anywhere. For example, a noisy bar probably wouldn't work. If it's controlled around you, it'll give good results. I really like this mic.
