This shovel is both lightweight and durable, making it ideal for heavy-duty metal detecting.

Used it to dig out gravel and rocks from multiple streams and to dig in the soil when metal detecting. Assembles easily and is compact. It is a bit heavy to wear as a side tool on your belt, but the carry pouch is rugged enough to prevent damage in a backpack.

This baby is THE BEST!!! I thought I was in a rut when I learned I had to dig out a bunch of boxwood in a tight area. This serrated shovel allowed me to sas through the tough thick roots and the narrow spade allowed me to leverage enough to get them out. My favorite tool in my shed!

The EPG Pro trowel shovel tool is a low-cost tool with which you can try. It’s a great, portable tool for its 11″ size. For all the pressure you’ll be putting on it, the rubber thumb grip adds a little additional padding. For a detectorist, the depth markers are useful.

The Root Assassin is a wonderful shovel with a great lifetime warranty. The steel shovel features a 35-inch length and a T-handle that makes it easy to grasp and drive down into the ground. The thin and pointed blade head is ideal for digging in confined spaces and creating tight plugs.

I love this shovel. I had a hip replacement in my "digging" leg so I was looking for anything to make work easier. I use it for planting and plant division. The narrow tip just cuts through all kinds of soil and roots. Why didn't someone think of this years ago.

I metal detect and many times need to dig up my finds. This shovel is always great to have along since it is lightweight and strong as well as sharp enough to tackle any job that I give it. This is one of the best purchases I have made in a very long time.

It looks weird at first, but after you try it, you’ll agree that other shovels should be designed in this way since this new design is much more functional and pleasant. The favorite feature is the inverted V-shaped cutting tip with strong teeth. With minimal effort, it just rips through roots and mud. In fact, you can use this tool instead of a pry bar to break an old tree stump without having to bend at all.

This shovel is perfect for metal detecting. It’s not too heavy to carry around and the handle length is just right for cutting plugs. It cut through a root the size of my thumb in one stroke. After breaking a couple of shovels, I think I’ve found a keeper!
