You can also retune the detecting area with a button push, allowing it to pick up bigger objects. There are three different sensitivity levels that can be used in different settings, such as mineralized ground or wet beach sand.

I bought this for my wife who loves to use her metal detector in our backyard. She has already found lots of coins, lots of old, square nails, and even a brass bell. This Pro-Pointer really lives up to its name. It's easy to use, provides really good detection and helps to discriminate objects such as coins, nails, bottle caps, pull tabs, etc. Highly recommend and the supplier has been excellent.

Metal detecting should not be limited to adults. Buy a Bounty Hunter BHJS junior metal detector for the kids to join this fun hobby. This detector is made for kids and can find coins up to 5 inches deep and bigger items up to 3 feet under the surface. The BHJS weighs 1.3 pounds and is 5 x 6 x 22 inches, making it ideal for kids aged 6 to 12. The user-friendly UI has a basic feature set, including depth detection sensitivity settings.

Bought this for a 7 year-old who loves it. And it works! I haven't tried $300 detectors, but this is great fun down at the beach. I bought this to find the lot stakes in my yard. It worked great. It is very sensitive and it does take some getting use to, to learn how to adjust the sensitivity. I found a lot of old pieces of junk, nails etc, in my yard just playing with it.

This metal detector is great, especially for the low price. We bought it for my son for his 10th birthday and he’s having so much fun with it (his dad is too). It’s lightweight enough that he can use it for awhile without his arm getting too tired. It is very accurate and detects things well. It seems to detect pretty deep too. It’s got several different settings to customize how you search. It seems well made and like it should hold up well if we take good care of it. I would highly recommend this for anyone!
