Life is unpredictable. Full of mysterious things. That’s why the wise always tells us to expect the unexpected. Yes, we should expect the unexpected, but that doesn’t mean it is right if we just stay idle, do nothing to face the uncertainties. What should we do then? Be prepared by stowing preparedness kits for you not to go panicking and mad when catastrophe strikes. And, one of the survival kits is an emergency lantern. What’s the correlation between catastrophe and lantern? Well, as simple as when there is an emergency, where the power outage should be performed. You just need to light up the lantern and still have illumination, instead of cursing the government, whatsoever. Or maybe when you are in the mood of wandering, at least you need to bring a lantern, so you know where you are heading to (especially during the dawn). Thus, to have you pick the best one, we have compiled the best lanterns for emergencies. Stay safe wherever you are.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Things you need to put into consideration
How many lumens do you need for a lantern?
The majority of lanterns we’ve encountered radiates around 100 lumens. The higher the lumen range, the brightest the light will be. Yet, in our recommendations, only up to 750, of which the highest range we have come across is 1000 lumens.
What should I consider when buying a camping lantern?
The first is the power source which will determine the brightness level of the light. Some run on fuel, gas, batteries, or electricity. Second, durability; how resistant the lantern is to weather, water, dust, and other elements in outdoor areas. The third is the size and weight for easy portability and does not fill your backpack.
How long do LED lanterns last?
LEDs are the latest breakthrough in the world of lighting. It is way more robust and can last longer than the previous (High-intensity discharge). Cited from bulbs.com, the vastness LED’s users reported that LED can live up to 50,000 hours, or to be precise, it can last up to 11 years for 12 hours a day of use.
How can I get lights without electricity?
There are tons of lighting sources provided by nature. On our daily basis, we have the sun that radiates an abundance of particles that can be used as electronic support for lights, cars, phones, etc. Besides, there are also oil lamps or even candles that can be used as substitute lighting.

This is a really good lamp. While its a bit expensive, I think it is worth it as it has a very rugged feel to it. I would preferred to have bought one that takes AA batteries but that model was not available for shipping to me. This one takes large D size batteries, which I'm using at the moment. Still I bought a pack of plastic inserts which convert AA to fit the D size. It's a fantastic lamp to have in the house in the event of power cuts & emergencies!

These lamps are phenomenal! Used them when we lost power during Hurricane Irma and they really lit up our rooms. I mean, let's be reasonable - they're not going to light it up like a normal lamp would, but they do a great job for emergency usage. The quick pop-out feature is awesome. We actually just used them again during a different power outage as a result of a bad thunderstorm and we were so happy we have them. We just popped the lamp out when walking anywhere in the house and then closed it a bit when we needed less light. Awesome!

Conclusion
The verdict
We can conclude that the most important feature to consider when buying a lantern is the lumens rate. If you want to have bright and vibrant lighting, at least you have to choose a lantern with a lumens power of 300. But if you want to get warm lighting and not dazzle your eyes. 100 lumens of lanterns is sufficient.
