If you want to end your climbing day with a night on the town, the Cotopaxi Fuego will look just as beautiful at the bar as it does on belay. Though the Fuego’s water-resistant down fill keeps you warm, the athletic cut keeps you trim and the color blocking on the chest is fashionable. A stuff pouch provided with the jacket makes it simple to carry it with you while you’re on the run and may need it.

It feels like it would be a lightweight fall jacket but I was wrong. It is super warm in 20 degree conditions. Very stylish as well. Runs small for sure.

When you have the jacket zipped uptight, the linings on the collar and chin flap feel soft against your skin, and the exclusive Angel-Wing Movement design is supposed to provide you with a complete range of motion for your arms.

Love the fit and breathable capabilities, keeps me warm on the chill slopes and i don't even put a hard-shell over it. pockets keep your hands nice and toasty. combined with some good base layers i'm never cold with this on!

The air-permeable elastic fleece side panels provide ventilation as well as a complete range of motion, allowing you to go from belaying to climbing and back without having to take it off. Arc’teryx’s patented No-Slip Zip technology is used on the Atom LT’s zipper, which has bumps at the collar to prevent it from accidentally opening and allowing cold air in. The sleeves are also elastic to fit tightly and keep heat in, and the adjustable hem keeps you toasty as well.

The Rab Microlight Alpine is a superb choice for keeping you dry and toasty while climbing in wet or snowy weather. To keep water out, the outer fabric is coated with DWR (durable water repellent). However, even if water seeps the insulation layer, it is comprised of hydrophobic down, which keeps you warm even when wet. However, since the Microlight Alpine isn’t completely waterproof, you’ll need an outer shell if you expect to get wet.

Lovely jacket. Lightweight and warm. True to size. Would buy Rab products again

Due to a unique design that weaves the insulation together without stitching or glue, the Mountain Hardwear Super/DS Stretchdown looks a bit different than your usual puffy jacket. This improves heat retention and reduces the likelihood of the down filling migrating and leaving chilly spots. The outer shell is elastic to let you move freely, and it’s coated with a water-resistant finish to keep you dry while it’s raining. The hood is insulated to keep your head warm, but it’s also low-profile so you don’t lose peripheral vision, which is important while belaying your partner.

When you’re switching leads on an alpine or multi-pitch climb, the Outdoor Research Ascendant Hoody is a great belay jacket. It keeps you toasty at the belay while still being incredibly air-permeable and breathable, allowing you to stay dry if you build up a sweat while climbing. The jacket also packs down small enough to take with you while you’re out and about. When it becomes colder, the Ascendant Hoody works well on its own, but it isn’t the warmest of belay jackets, so you’ll want to wear it as a mid-layer if you’re out in extremely cold weather.

Got it for cold morning runs (below 32 degrees) but like the liner so much I just wear it all the time. Really is nice. Only con is that the hand pockets don't zip. A flaw for a jacket most people with use for outdoor exercise. Still a great jacket.

Patagonia’s Nano Puff Hoody is a basic down jacket that’s ideal for a day on belay. The down insulation is composed of 55% recyclable materials and will keep you warm even if it becomes wet. The outside fabric is an abrasion-resistant recycled ripstop that has been treated to repel water. The jacket features a hook to connect to a carabiner so you can hang it on your harness and have it ready to go when the wind gets up, and it stuffs into its own internal chest pocket for storage. The Nano Puff’s hood isn’t designed to fit over a helmet, but you may wear it beneath one if that’s more comfortable for you.

Super nice gift for my 16 year old! He loves his jacket and I feel better about him driving when he, at least has good gear! Love you REI!

Overall, Outdoor Research’s Transcendent is a less expensive option, It has a 650 fill power and no hood, thus it has a lesser fill power. The collar is lined for added warmth around the neck. The material is robust, yet there is enough room for mobility inside the arms. The zippers are very long-lasting. The hem may still be adjusted, and the cuffs are bound.

This is a super-warm, hyper-light jacket. Have had it out with air temps in the low 20's and have stayed toasty.

For those who don’t know, Helly Hansen specializes in designing apparel for some of the world’s coldest conditions, such as the icy waters of the Arctic. While this puffer jacket isn’t quite up to Perfect Storm-style activities, it’s perfect for everyday adventures in all kinds of weather, and it’s styled after the brand’s classic and legendary original Puffy Jacket. The shell, liner, and insulation are all constructed of polyester, making it lightweight, sturdy, and warm. And it really does look fantastic in every color.

It fits like a glove, your size chart is spot on. Great jacket for Chicago winter weather.
