Viking Farmer’s alfalfa hay is outstanding. The hay is packaged in a variety of sizes to keep it safe from the elements while still allowing it to breathe. Fresh, green hay with a wonderful aroma. Pack with a long shelf life. It’s safe for rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas since it’s 100% pure hay.

This is a great price for bulk alfalfa. It seemed very fresh and green, and the rabbits love it. It is green and leafy - not dusty and twiggy like some of the other big boxes we've tried. It came in a plastic bag inside of a box and is pretty easy to handle. It says it is certified weed-free and we haven't encountered a weed yet! This was our first time buying it, but we will be buying again.

In Europe, this soft green leafy hay is known as cocksfoot grass hay. It has a greater protein level and is very appetizing, making it a good choice for fussy eaters. It has a lesser fiber level than other hays, but it’s excellent to mix it with other hays that have a greater fiber content. Grandpa’s Best provided it as a compressed tied bale within a plastic bag wrapper. It’s simple to break off a slice of the bale and fluff it out for feeding since it’s so tightly packed yet fresh and green.

This was a very compact, very highly compresses but very fresh and obviously high quality bale of orchard grass. I appreciate how this was compacted because it is possible to peel off little flakes (much like horse bale "flakes" but smaller) so there is less waste when feeding the animals. Pretty cool. I expect this to last through the winter for two rabbits and a flight cage of small birds. Not a bad price for that, all in all.

People looking for a hypoallergenic alternative to grass often feed green oat hay to their rabbits. It may be a great option for rabbits who are prone to weight gain, as well as for owners who suffer from hay fever. Five bunnies so far all love this hay. They go nuts when I bring this out. Lots of big oat pieces, their favorite. They run to their litter boxes when I bring it out. I have tried many brands and types of hay, and this is by far their favorite, even for my picky boy Lop. I don't need to worry about them not eating enough hay when I buy this.

My Holland Lop is 8 years old and this is honestly the first time he's actually willingly eating hay and eats all of it!!! Seriously, with his age this is the best gift I could get- it will keep him with me longer. So thank you Oxbow, now it can be my bun Houdini and me against the world for even longer!!! ;)

Another alfalfa hay option is here, which is better suited to younger, fast-growing rabbits. Alfalfa hay promotes all of your bunny’s natural tendencies, including foraging, nibbling, and burrowing. Its high calcium and protein content aids rabbit growth, but the reduced fiber level makes it less suitable for adults.

I like that this comes in chunky sections, makes it easy to feed and less messy.

Higgins Timothy hay is packaged in tiny individual bales and marketed in a unique manner. This, in theory, keeps the freshness and wetness of each packet intact. Furthermore, it has been shown to be able to attract finicky eaters – and your pets will have a blast dismantling it.

I enjoy these Hay/grass bundles because I have two rabbits (indoor) and this is a less messy way of feeding grass, which is necessary for their diet.

My holland lops love the smell and taste of this hay. The moment I open the bag they hop around, in circles, waiting for me to put it in their homes.
