No one should be surprised by the fact that distance is a significant issue in the current game of golf. Having the ability to strike the ball farther than anybody else gives you a clear edge over everyone else at almost every stage of the game. Accordingly, the models listed below not only aid to maximize yardage, but they also provide a degree of control and feel to the game as well. Without further ado, let’s take a look!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Just in case you wonder...

How much does a good set of golf clubs cost?

A good set of golf clubs will cost $500 or more. Some players with slower clubhead speeds can purchase lower-priced sets comprised of lower-quality materials. Slower clubhead speeds have a lesser likelihood of breaking a golf club constructed of inferior materials.

Which one is better: Individual golf clubs or golf club sets?

Complete golf club sets are preferable for beginner golfers. For starter sets have a basic set composition that has been time and time again demonstrated to fit with their underdeveloped or emerging playing style. More significantly, it’s a huge comfort to realize that beginning golf club sets are less expensive to purchase than single clubs.

What golf clubs should a high handicapper carry?

When you have a high handicap, your set should always include the clubs that are the easiest to hit. In other words, incorporate hybrids rather than long irons. Also, instead of a driver off the tee, choose a hybrid, 3-wood, or 5-wood, but only if that driver isn’t particularly designed for high handicappers.

Should high handicappers get golf club fittings?

We are sure that being fitted benefits ALL types of players, particularly high handicappers.  And why is that? Because if you have a high handicap, you are most certainly inconsistently hitting the ball. And being properly fitted entails utilizing the right golf clubs, which translates to hitting the sweet spot most of the time, so your shots (even mis-hits) fly straight and far.

Here are the best golf club for distance
Wilson Sporting Goods Staff Launch Pad Golf Iron Set - Best Golf Club For Distance: No more bad swing
https://www.amazon.com/

1.
Wilson Sporting Goods
Staff Launch Pad Golf Iron Set

No more bad swing

price from
$677.73
Our opinion:

The Launch Pad irons’ clubheads have a broad, progressive sole that prevents the sole from sinking into the grass before impact. Short irons (7-SW) have more typical sole widths, and longer irons (4-6) have broader, more forgiving soles for more consistent ball-striking and more distance. They aren’t going to hit the ball for you, and they aren’t going to salvage a bad swing, particularly in rainy circumstances.

Promising review:

[...] With an easy swing and decent tempo, these irons do the trick in terms of distance and shot dispersion. You still have to hit down slightly on the ball to get some compression (as you do with all irons) but they help reduce fat shots and the mis-hits still go a good distance. Not sure you can ask for more from a set of clubs.

Cobra Golf
Radspeed Iron Set

Incredibly dynamic

price from
$789.99
Our opinion:

Speaking of creative design, the 3D printed medallion is the main difference between this model and the previous one, and it makes the irons feel incredibly dynamic off the face while also assisting with forgiveness. Cobra has also made the Radspeed irons more visually appealing with a thinner sole shape, creative cavity design, and a carbon fiber effect on the topline. The Radspeed irons provide some of the finest value and performance in the iron market.

Promising review:

[...] I was thoroughly impressed with the design and the feel of the clubs and the impact at the ball is solid ! I may still golf like a blind guy putting a puzzle together but at least when I hit a house or a window at least I know these clubs feel amazing and are worth every penny.

MAVRIK Irons

Speed or stability? Both!

Our opinion:

Because of the increased ball speed and spin in each club, the Callaway Mavrik Hybrid Iron Combo Set is an excellent choice for older players. It has the Flash Face Technology, which was created by Artificial Intelligence to increase ball speed due to the distinctive loft. The Mavrik hybrid iron combo set is a great blend of speed, stability, and CG placement for simple launch, extended carry, and soft landings.

TaylorMade SiM 2 Max OS Iron Set - Best Golf Club For Distance: Straightening up the slice
https://www.amazon.com/

4.
TaylorMade
SiM 2 Max OS Iron Set

Straightening up the slice

price from
$914.27
Our opinion:

A polymer supporting the whole topline is one of the primary design changes with this model that replaces SIM. This replaces the Speed Bridge, and TaylorMade claims it is quicker and more stable across a larger area. Both the SIM2 Max and SIM2 Max OS feature ample sole widths, offset, and a thick topline, making them easier to hit, but the latter has a greater offset, which will assist high handicappers in straightening up the slice.

Promising review:

I’m a recreational golfer that has been using the same Taylormade irons for over twenty years. Theses Sim2 Max OS irons changed my game. They are easy to hit and distance is increased. Even mis-hits travel straight. The feel of hitting a crisp shot is incredible. [...]

MIZUNO
JPX 921 Hot Metal Irons

For higher ball speeds

1  visitors like this
price from
$999.99
Our opinion:

The JPX921 Hot Metal iron is the longest in the JPX lineup, owing to the use of Chromoly 4140M and a re-engineered Cortech face that is now 0.2mm thinner across the center point, resulting in higher ball speeds. These are aided by a Seamless Cup Face with a variable thickness sole design that enables the leading edge to serve as a hinge, resulting in increased face flex. In addition, three extra sound ribs provide a more substantial impact experience.

Promising review:

Great golf clubs. Feels solid. Miss hits looks ugly but travel true and almost as far. Clubs looks great.

6.
Callaway
Apex DCB 21 Irons

Look and feel great

price from
$1,399.90
Our opinion:

The Apex DCB iron is a new model to the Apex line that is ideal for those looking for distance while maintaining the appearance and feel of a forged design. Distance is provided by the deep cavity back design and the 50 grams of tungsten in the longer irons to assist golfers in getting the ball in the air. The increased sole width has been designed for a smooth launch and good grass engagement from a range of lies.

Promising review:

Been playing Callaway irons for years, but first time with Forged. I'm just getting started with these, but very excited. You can feel the ball launching off the face, almost pulling it away. Getting plenty of loft and monitor showing a bit more distance and better dispersion. Can't wait to get on the course!

Wilson Sporting Goods D9 Steel Irons - Best Golf Club For Distance: Ultra-thin face
https://www.wilson.com/

7.
Wilson Sporting Goods
D9 Steel Irons

Ultra-thin face

price from
$699.99
Our opinion:

Wilson’s Urethane-filled pocket designs enhance deflection and enable more energy to be transferred to the ball over the whole face, resulting in faster ball speeds and longer distance. The irons also sport a redesigned ultra-thin face with a bigger sweet spot for more forgiveness. Importantly, the irons have a clean, classic appearance at address, and the substantial topline width and wide sole inspire confidence.

Promising review:

I love my D9 irons and hybrids. 20 yards longer than my previous clubs. Premium Tensei Shafts and Lamkin grips. Well built, good sound, great looks. They feel good in the ends. Easy to hit, confidence building. Wilson nailed it for the high handicaper with these clubs.

PING G710 - Best Golf Club For Distance: Tremendous speed and power

PING
G710

Tremendous speed and power

price from
$875.00
Our opinion:

The Ping G710 iron, with its black PVD finish, is a distinctive iron intended to help developing golfers get the most out of their games. The flexible maraging steel face is meant to imitate the feel of a fairway metal, and the G710 produces tremendous speed and power. The inclusion of high-density tungsten toe and heel weights boosts the Moment of Inertia and aids in the maximization of clubhead and ball speed.

Promising review:

I used my brand new G710 for a Florida Golf Trip and with my first round of golf got a Hole in One in Carrollwood Country Club Pine Course Par 3 137 yds. with my 9 Iron.

9.
Srixon
ZX4 IRONS

Provides additional distance

price from
$1,137.99
Our opinion:

Srixon’s iron is designed for distance, while the ZX5 and ZX7 versions are designed for improved control and feel. MainFrame technology is a variable thickness pattern machined onto the rear of each face that helps boost ball speed and hence provides additional distance. More distance is the natural outcome. The Tour V.T. Sole on the irons aids in striking by allowing the iron to flow through the grass rather than digging into it.

Promising review:

I am 68 and wanted my first set of graphite irons. The fitter tried five different club manufacturers and this was the winner.

10.
Titleist
T400 Irons

Strong and forgiving iron

price from
$952.99
Our opinion:

The Titleist T400 iron is the most forgiving and longest club in Titleist’s well-known T series. It features the highest lofts in the Titleist lineup, although the launch is unaffected by the powerful, high ball flight created. The split sole design provides smooth grass engagement, while the super-thin face and hollow head are reinforced by high-density tungsten weighting, making this a strong and forgiving iron.
