Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
In case you don't know...
What is the Difference Between a Metal Detector and a Gold Detector?
Gold detectors are metal detectors that have particular parameters that are appropriate to their purpose or target type. The majority of metal detectors are multi-purpose devices designed to detect iron, coins, jewelry, antiquities, gold, silver, copper, and other metals. Additional features on gold detectors are often added to improve performance in detecting gold and canceling out mineral signals in gold-bearing areas. A gold detector often has higher frequencies, different ground balancing methods, and a higher price tag.
What type of detector technology is best for you?
There are two different kinds of detectors:
1. VLF: Very-Low-Frequency single-frequency detectors can provide the high frequencies required for gold detection while also providing reliable discrimination.
2. PI: Pulse Induction detectors are known for maximum depth detection in mineralized ground circumstances since they’re built to be resistant to a variety of minerals that can obstruct gold searching.
Can Metal Detectors Detect Gold?
Absolutely. The gold itself is the most important element in determining whether a metal detector can detect gold. If there’s a large nugget within 8″ of the surface, nearly any detector will locate it. The smallest nuggets, flakes, and lode deposits, on the other hand, will be the most difficult to locate and will need features that gold-specific detectors are equipped with to detect.
How do Metal Detectors Detect Gold?
Metal detectors detect gold in the same way as other metals are detected. VLF and Pulse Induction detectors operate in different ways, but they both provide the same results – auditory and/or visual evidence of a detected gold object. However, there are additional variables than detector technology that determine whether a metal detector can detect gold efficiently. This covers the ground conditions, the size of the gold, as well as the user technique and expertise.

Minelab
Equinox 800 Metal Detector
Easy-To-Carry Detector
A multi-frequency metal detector has several frequencies working at the same time, which are: 5, 10, 15, 20, and 40 kHz. When you use low to moderate frequencies, you have a good chance of detecting many kinds of targets, including gold. The Equinox 800 is waterproof up to 10 feet and weighs just 2.96 pounds, so you can carry it everywhere for as long as you’re up to the job.
This is our first detector, so we are practicing use for finding gold this summer. There is a definite difference between the signal for Gold and other metals. Finds objects at various depths in the yard. Hopeful about summer prospecting. Glad we got this model; husband seems happy with it=

XP Metal Detector
DEUS Metal Detector
Multi-Frequency Detector
Since it’s a multi-frequency detector with a range of pre-set programs, the XP DEUS breaks this pattern. This makes it ideal for a variety of tasks, including gold hunting. The operating frequency of this detector may be adjusted based on the circumstances. There are four options: 5kHz, 8kHz, 12kHz, and 18kHz, although you’ll most likely choose the 18kHz while looking for gold. Furthermore, this program switches the detector to all-metal mode, which allows it to identify small targets while ignoring heavily mineralized soil.
Very Sensitive and light weight unit.

White's Electronic
Goldmaster GMT Metal Detector
Outstanding High-Frequency VLF Detector
The White’s Goldmaster GMT is another outstanding high-frequency VLF detector. It can detect small nuggets of gold while managing high levels of ground mineralization, thanks to its 48kHz operating frequency and 6” x 9” search coil. The simple control panel has the advantage of being simple to operate since the only information given is the ground balance and mineralization quantity. What’s more, you can adjust the Ground balance mode, gain, audio threshold, and S.A.T speed as well.
went done to the beach to use it the simplicity is great really nice metal detector and the warranty is what made me purchase it here, then to save a couple bucks else where

This design is intended to do one thing: detect gold. It features three knobs, two switches, and a headphone input on its analog control box. Also, It has three modes of operation, including an audio boost and an iron discrimination mode that rejects targets made of iron.
My husband swears that this is the best metal/gold detector out there. His dad, his brother and him have been doing this hobby since his childhood (50yrs at least) in Alaska. They all 3 have one of there own. He defiantly recommends it.

Bounty Hunter
TK4 Tracker IV Metal Detector
Entry-Level Metal Detectors
Bounty Hunter is known for its entry-level metal detectors, which are ideal for beginners and hobbyists. The Tracker IV is a wonderful addition to their product lineup. It is intended to be as simple as possible. Since it’s just a 6.7kHz VLF detector, bear in mind that it’ll only identify the gold that’s on or near the surface. It’s also a motion metal detector, so it needs to move in order to detect metal.
We like that it's lightweight, easy to handle and understand with the dials. Very portable. We have had fun with it but..the screw cover came off during a hunt and was lost. This is the part that keeps the circular device on the pole, so you really need it. I don't know if you can just go to a hardware store and replace it..the season ended and we have the machine stored in the basement for now..Overall it works well. We have found a lot of junk and have yet to find our treasure ;)

Conclusion
It’s not simple to find gold with a conventional metal detector. Gold has a lower density than iron or copper. It also has a low conductivity rating, making it undetectable by a weaker system. And, since we’ve included some gold detector products in our list above, we hope you’ll have no trouble finding the gold as you wish. Good luck!
