This is our first detector, so we are practicing use for finding gold this summer. There is a definite difference between the signal for Gold and other metals. Finds objects at various depths in the yard. Hopeful about summer prospecting. Glad we got this model; husband seems happy with it=

The Fisher Gold Bug Pro is one of the best entry-level gold metal detectors. The Gold Bug Pro is a VLF detector with a 19kHz working frequency at its core. It has a 5-inch round search coil, 2-tone audio identification, and an LCD screen. The detector is also quite light, weighing just 2.5 pounds. These include Ground balancing, both manual and automated, “All Metal” and discriminating hunting modes, target ID, and a Fe3O4 graphic showing mineralization.

I have used a Gold Bug II for 15 years and this detector works just as well. Only takes one 9 volt battery as well.

The Gold Bug 2 from Fisher is one of the highest frequency detectors under $1000, with a whopping 71kHz. It’s built to be very responsive to even the smallest gold nuggets in a variety of terrains. This design is intended to do one thing: detect gold. It features three knobs, two switches, and a headphone input on its analog control box. Also, It has three modes of operation, including an audio boost and an iron discrimination mode that rejects targets made of iron.

My husband swears that this is the best metal/gold detector out there. His dad, his brother and him have been doing this hobby since his childhood (50yrs at least) in Alaska. They all 3 have one of there own. He defiantly recommends it.

Bounty Hunter is known for its entry-level metal detectors, which are ideal for beginners and hobbyists. The Tracker IV is a wonderful addition to their product lineup. It is intended to be as simple as possible. Since it’s just a 6.7kHz VLF detector, bear in mind that it’ll only identify the gold that’s on or near the surface. It’s also a motion metal detector, so it needs to move in order to detect metal. 

We like that it's lightweight, easy to handle and understand with the dials. Very portable. We have had fun with it but..the screw cover came off during a hunt and was lost. This is the part that keeps the circular device on the pole, so you really need it. I don't know if you can just go to a hardware store and replace it..the season ended and we have the machine stored in the basement for now..Overall it works well. We have found a lot of junk and have yet to find our treasure ;)

I love my new AT Gold, within a week it hit on a loaded up quartz vein, the iron audio feature works great, I haven't used it under water yet but it did fine out in the heavy rains. highly recommend this product.
