A generator is essential for a camper or someone who enjoys traveling around the world in an RV to see the sights. It will be a powerful power station for your travel truck to remain running; conversely, you may need to cook to stay energized or retain your connection with the world by charging your iPhone, iPad, MacBook, or DSLR to it while on the road. Apart from that, a powerful generator may also power a small refrigerator in your travel trailer. So, how do you decide which generator to buy? Look no further; the answer will be provided in the meanwhile. This review will outline the best generators for travel trailers that include an RV-ready outlet.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is a solar generator?

A solar generator is a relatively new type of technology that employs the sun as its power source. Solar panels, in concept, would absorb the sun’s rays before transmitting and storing the energy in a battery. As a consequence, a solar generator is a state-of-the-art technology. However, keep in mind that a solar generator may be powered using either a car battery or a power outlet.

How to pick the right solar generator

First and foremost, what will you do with the generator? If you only need to light up a starry night at camping, you don’t need a massive generator. However, if you want to utilize a generator as backup power in the case of a power outage, you will need a sturdy one that runs on dual fuel or gasoline (the solar generator might not be a good option here, since it does not come with great battery capacity and power output). Aside from that, you should think about other aspects, such as mobility, design, and price.

How many watts do you need to power a house?

The average wattage required to power essential household appliances is roughly 10,000 watts. In conclusion, choose a generator with high power output and a big battery capacity when choosing a generator to power your entire home.

Can a generator run for 24 hours?

A solar generator is not the best option for meeting such a requirement. The gasoline-powered generator is also not a good idea since, in addition to the restrictions of gas tanks, there is the possibility of overheating and noise (which is generally loud). A generator can sustain up to 10 hours of run time from those on our list. However, the better option may be someplace out there.

Our opinion:

When you need to power up all of your appliances, the Honda generator will be a superior choice. This generator is capable of powering a furnace, refrigerator, and even an RV. It also comes with a 3-year warranty for further peace of mind. Its noise level relatively quiet, so you won’t have to shout at each other. It also has an oil warning system that reminds you to replace the oil.

[...] I purchased it with the intention of powering a small modern travel trailer while parked for a season or two; electric heaters, A/C unit, fridge, some lighting, etc. With it's extended run time per tank of fuel, its ultra low noise level, battery operated electric starter (pull rope backup of course) its everything we need [...]

Our opinion:

This Cummins generator has a Telescopic handle and wheels for easy handling, making it an excellent camping companion. The gasoline tank has a capacity of approximately 3.4 gallons and can run for up to 18 hours. Besides that, it features a push-button and remote start system with a pull-cord backup, as well as a double-insulated case with whisper-quiet sound.

Promising review:

Use the 4500 for camping with our 26 foot travel trailer. It is very quiet. We use a Keurig which uses a lot of electricity. It drew down our other 4500 but the Cummins just kicked up and handeled it without a wimper. Highly recommend this for camping

3500-Watt Dual Fuel

Easy, Push-Button Electric Touch Start

Our opinion:

This generator comes with wheels that allow for great mobility. It is best suited for RVs, camping, or as backup power for a blackout. The plug only supports 120V and up to 30A rated. Moreover, it is midweight and weighs no more than 100 lbs (approx. 95 lbs). And speaking of RV support, this has a standard 30A RV outlet with enough power to start and run a 15,000 BTU RV AC.

Promising review:
