Whether you’re going on a cruise around the harbor, a day excursion farther afield, or a multi-day, overnight adventure, it’s essential to be prepared for any unanticipated events. A first aid kit should be at the top of your list of safety equipment to carry with you out on the water on a sailing expedition. However, there are other factors to consider when selecting your best marine first aid kit, which may be a difficult undertaking for many. Fortunately, we were able to explore a wide selection of high-quality first aid kits for boats on the market today. Read on!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Just in case you wonder...

Why should I get a first aid kit?

To treat minor injuries and respond to life-threatening emergencies, first aid kits should be prepared. These kits should be valued not just for addressing basic healthcare needs, but also for minimizing injuries until proper treatment is available.

How to shop for a first aid kit?

When selecting a first aid kit, consider who may rely on it (both in terms of the sheer number of people and the age and disposition of the user), where it will be kept and/or transported, and under what circumstances the potential users could sustain an accident or sickness. Any first aid box worth considering should include supplies for small cuts, punctures, burns, and other common injuries.

Where should I keep a first aid kit?

According to the Mayo Clinic, first aid kits should be kept in both your house and personal car in order to properly react to accidents and emergencies. They should also be considered in circumstances where accidents might occur, such as hiking and camping.

Is it less expensive to make your own first aid kit?

Perhaps. However, some very specific or specialized products are included in the contents of a first aid kit. While assembling your own may be less expensive, it may not be practical owing to how difficult and time-consuming it may be.

Be Smart Get Prepared
First Aid

Best for budget

price from
$8.99
Our opinion:

The Be Smart Get Prepared is a first-aid kit that complies with FDA regulations in the United States. The kit’s hard case is waterproof and tough, constructed of high-density plastic, and seems to be ready to take a battering and survive. There are compartments within the case where first aid goods are placed out in an ordered way and where they are simple to sift through thanks to the vast room provided by the case.

Promising review:

After an unfortunate accident at the beach and realizing how unprepared we were for even small injuries, we bought several of these to keep everywhere! On the boat, in the car, it's the perfect size - and even though you hope you never need it - you'll be glad you do!

Our opinion:

This 163-piece first aid kit from DeftGet contains essential medical-grade items in a well-organized, hard-backed red container that’s both simple to keep and use. When you go over the contents list, you’ll see that DeftGet’s kit has lots of bandages, antiseptic pads, and instruments to deal with a variety of mishaps. This package does not contain a thermometer, aspirin/ibuprofen, or a CPR face cover, so you may want to include those things.

First Aid Only
All-Purpose Essentials

Our opinion:

First Aid Only also doesn’t skimp on quantity, making this kit suitable for families or groups. For scraped knees, paper cuts, and other open wounds, more than 200 bandages and gauze pads of different sizes are available. This kit provides a greater assortment of medications and ointments than most all-purpose rivals, albeit the amounts of aspirin, ibuprofen, and non-aspirin acetaminophen are restricted to just six pills.

Promising review:

This is a solid starter first aid kit. I added a few things like more meds, wound seal coagulant powder, and a few more common sized bandaids as Im “accident prone”. I have these in all my vehicles, boat, etc.

The Swiss Safe 2-in-1 First Aid Kit is a maritime first aid kit that also functions as a survival kit. It includes the standard goods found in every decent first aid kit, as well as a range of products for various scenarios. Bandages for fingers and knuckles, a large-size trauma pad, sterilizing wipes and medicated pads, and even an instant cold pack, gloves, and a mask are among the items included. Besides, this pack includes a variety of emergency tools such as metal shears and tweezers.

Promising review:

I wanted a small yet fairly complete kit for my boat. I didn't realize until I got the kit that it included a whistle and glow stick; nice additions. I also like the small CPR mask. I added a small bottle of liquid bandage and should be ready in case a small emergency arises while on the water.

This is the best first aid I have come across for its price. It is well-thought-out, contains items that will be of great use in a more injury-related situation, and is compact. The carrying case is well-made and seems pretty durable, as well. We bought this for our boat, so we are very pleased!
