Attempting to fly a drone in high winds is often believed to be a grave error. It’s quite perilous, particularly given how sensitive and pricey drones have become in recent years. Given that windy weather is inescapable in certain parts of the globe, drones designed particularly to withstand strong winds have been developed to combat it. Designed to avoid obstructions, these wind-resistant drones are durable, swift, and reliable. This selection of wind-resistant drones is perfect if you live in a windy place or like taking videos in the outdoors.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Just in case you wonder...
Do I need to register my drone with the FAA?
Drones weighing 0.55 pounds (250 grams) or more must be registered with the Federal Aviation Administration. If you purchase a drone weighing 250 grams or more, registration costs $5 and is valid for three years. More information may be found on the FAA’s website.
Can drones fly during a bad weather?
You should not fly a drone in bad weather. There’s a danger that dust, water, or snow may get inside the drone’s housing and harm its components. If you have to fly a drone in adverse weather, you should be aware of the risks. During the event, your drone will be damaged, and you will most likely need to purchase a new one.
When is it impossible to fly a drone due to wind?
Drones should not be flown in high winds. If you must, the speed restrictions range from 10 to 30 mph. The wind speed should never surpass two-thirds of the drone’s speed, according to a simple rule of thumb. Wind speeds of more than 30 mph are not recommended for flying since most drones have a peak speed of 45 mph.
Can I use my GoPro in a drone with a camera?
You can, and the best option is to choose a drone that is compatible with GoPro technology, such as the DJI Phantom 2 or other notable aircraft in the Yuneec and Blade product lines. When a drone comes with additional mounts, you can be confident that it will need a less complicated setup and tinkering. The GoPro camera series works well with almost any drone equipped with a 3-axis gimbal.
10 Reviews: Best Drone in Windy Conditions (Sep 2023)

The DJI Mavic Pro was the company’s smallest drone. It also includes foldable shoulders, allowing you to securely store this drone in your backpack. The camera is suspended from the drone, which is unusual for a drone of this size. Under favorable lighting circumstances, this produces excellent results in both picture and video shooting. The Mavic Pro has a top flying speed of roughly 64 km/h and a battery life of approximately 20-25 minutes.
My 4th DJI drone. Got it because I wanted a travel drone that still could handle some wind and do good 4K video. The one I received looked like new and flies great. Go refurb and get a new warranty plus save a couple of hundred bucks.

2.DJI
Mavic 2 Pro
Outstanding flying range
This drone includes a folding construction, a 4K camera, a 7-kilometer flying range, and a top speed of 31 mph. That’s a hallmark of a well-thought-out drone. However, the speed is a disappointment since it can only sustain speeds of up to 20 mph. It has an 11-mile flying range. This drone is suitable for lengthy flights in windy conditions because of its outstanding flying range and reliable GPS tracking technology.
I am very happy with this mavic 2 pro. No regrets with this purchase. It's stable in wind gust and takes incredible video and pics. Dji did it right with this model.

3.DJI
Phantom 4 PRO
For obstacle avoidance
The DJI Phantom 4 Pro has a maximum speed of 72 kph (44.7 mph), which means it can survive wind gusts of approximately 30 mph. The optical cameras and infrared sensors on the drone make it well-equipped for obstacle avoidance. The drone also has something called Visual Positioning Technology, which captures a photo when it takes off. It uses this information in conjunction with its GPS to locate its way back home after the shooting.
[...] Everything is solid about this, the connection to remote, flying in wind or cold. I've taken this to Iceland and it performed great. It's almost time for the Phantom 5 but this one will always be high on my list.

4.Parrot
Bebop 2 Quadcopter Drone
Decrease vibration
The Parrot Bebop 2 is a mid-range drone that isn’t too expensive but packs a lot of functionality for the money. The camera features a fisheye lens, and stabilization software removes the need for a suspension; this, along with a clever chassis design that employs rubber dampers to decrease vibration in-flight, results in almost no jitter while filming videos. This drone contains a plethora of sensors that allow it to stabilize in the air under high winds.
This has been an awesome drone. It does take practice and I have crashed numerous time. Parts are easily available and easy to replace. Battery depends on how you fly it. Normal mode 30 min. Sport type mode with adjusting settings around 15 min. This things can be fast and dangerous. All around I would definitely buy again!!

5.3DR
Solo Quadcopter
Controlled with tablet
This drone is outfitted with a Sony RPSC APS-C camera on a three-axis gimbal. Wi-Fi is used to link the aircraft. As a controller, a tablet, such as an iPad mini, is hooked to the holder. In windy situations, this drone is quite stable, and it contains sensors that will ground it if heavy gusts blow. Wi-Fi is also used to connect to the tablet. To fly, just hit the app’s button or the controller’s “FLY” button.
Love my SOLO. I wouldn't say it was for beginners. This bird is not cheap. Easy to fly and the things it can do will astonish. I wish it had obstacle avoidance.

6.DJI
Mavic 2 Zoom
Best for zoom effect
When paired with the digital zoom, the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom has a 2x optical zoom lens that can be zoomed up to 4x. Aerial photography with depth is conceivable, as is a variable selection based on the item to be captured, ranging from wide-angle to medium telephoto. This drone is also extremely nice, and it features wind stabilization. It is a suggested airplane for individuals who want the zoom effect.
Nice product! Withstands high winds, beautiful dolly zoom effect. Gracefully follows in active track 2.0 profile mode, point of interest in high wind can cause it to slightly sway away from the target but you can turn the camera and it still continues its circle.

7.Parrot
PF728000 ANAFI
Rapid charging option
The Parrot Anafi is definitely better in terms of weight, due to different carbon components – just roughly 320 grams. When using the Anafi drone, a drone sticker or a drone license plate is also required. This drone can also withstand wind. A drone license is not required. The Parrot Anafi has a top speed of 54 kilometers per hour. The camera drone’s battery may be completely charged in less than an hour thanks to the rapid charging option.
I love the way it flies through the wind, it has great stabilization, camera quality, very compact and most important it's very quiet no one has to be looking around when am in the air.

Really good quality drone. I’m extremely impressed at what this drone can do. It’s professional quality for an affordable price. The picture quality is insane and the drone doesn’t budge in the wind. I’ve used it on more than one occasion in moderately high wind conditions and it gave me flawless video! Definitely don’t hesitate buying this drone.

9.Potensic
T25
Longer flying duration
This is the Potensic T25 GPS drone, which has a sophisticated 9-axis gyro, two batteries, and one carrying bag, as well as a longer flying duration and portability. Wind-resistant and stable in flight, resulting in better photos and movies. It can take crisp images even when the drone is flying at fast speeds, allowing you to view what your drone sees, making it excellent for capturing a specific location or just looking about. When you press the Return button while the drone is in GPS mode, it will fly back to the home point you designated as the take-off location.
The only problem is cannot fly in rain. Very stable in winds up to 23 mph. Does not have night vision but still does well. Very high quality and well worth the money.

Since the Ruko F11 has a powerful GPS location and air pressure function, the drone can hover steadily, allowing us to operate drones more simply and correctly. With a shock absorption feature that helps reduce camera shake, it offers more stable video quality and makes it simpler to acquire a clear and smooth image. Simply create a route on the App screen, set a maximum of 16 points on the map, and the drone will follow and fly along with the indicated waypoints.
After purchasing and returning several incapable drones I found this one. Just took it out today to fly in about a 10 mph wind and this thing performed fantastically. Held its position despite the strong winds. I highly recommend this model to anyone wanting to get into the hobby.
