Owning a boat we use in salt water requires stainless steel, or you have a rusty mess. One plate of 1/4 in was so tough I had trouble getting one hole with a high speed bit. Cobalt does so much better, and if I lubricate to keep bit cool they last. I don't even hesitate when drilling stainless, I just go for cobalt. These work great.

I've been trying to drill into really strong steel of my hotrod's boxed frame rails without much luck. Old bits sharpened on my Drill Doctor were just making no headway. These bits really did the job quickly.

The tough bit for drilling stainless steel like butter. The Bosch Cobalt M42 pieces are made of aluminium with 8% cobalt for a longer life cycle. It also has a three-flat shank and can withstand high temperatures.

I have drilled steel, both carbon and stainless, aluminum and wood. Very sharp so they do not bounce. When used with a cutting fluid you can really use a high feed rate. Should have bought a set like this decades ago.

I’ve used these bits often and they show wear or damage. I’m constantly drilling through thick steel plates and stainless steel. Great for the price. Anywhere else and you will pay double or triple especially on the tool truck. Make sure you use cutting lubricate and run about 300-600 rpms to keep from burning up the bits.
