Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
FAQ about dive light
How bright should a dive light be?
Lumen output is now used to measure brightness in diving lights using LED bulbs. The appropriate brightness of dive light depends on your needs or the sort of diving you want to undertake, but as a general guideline, any light with an average beam angle of 12 to 75 degrees and a lumen output of 200 or more should be enough for recreational diving.
Is a dive light required?
A scuba diving light is an important piece of gear that divers should use on every dive. A dive light adds color to a blue environment whether you’re diving in muddy or clear water, day or night. At 20-30 feet down during the day, seasoned divers realize that everything starts to seem uninteresting.
What colors disappear underwater?
The first color to be absorbed is red, followed by orange and yellow. Underwater, the colors fade in the same sequence as they appear on the color spectrum. Even at a depth of 5 feet, there will be a notable decrease in red. As a result, strobes are often employed to restore color to subjects.
Can a flashlight work underwater?
If the flashlight has a depth rating of roughly 100 feet, it may be used for shallow diving without difficulty. If you routinely go on long dives, though, you’ll need a torch with a minimum depth rating of 200 feet.

2500 in its name alludes to its large 120° beam angle. No hot areas with this strong light. Upon submission, darkness becomes day. You’d think a diving light this strong would be short-lived. The Sea Dragon can run at maximum brightness for 60 minutes before the low power lights flicker and the Sea Dragon automatically switches to low power mode. The “low” power option still produces 1200 lumens for two hours, which is excellent.
Excellently designed light that was indispensable for night dives and was diffused enough to allow excellent underwater photography. I used it as my primary dive light. [...]

Ideal for photography and filmmaking
A diving light that won’t overexpose your photographs is the Light & Motion GoBe broad beam light. Its soft beam has no harsh edges or hotspots, making it ideal for photography and filmmaking. The GoBe light has several advantages. First, it’s little. It’s small enough to fit in your palm and still produces 1000 lumens. This dive light’s battery is larger than the common CR18650 lithium battery found in many dive lights. The GoBe is also flexible, allowing you to replace the light head with a GoBe 800 or GoBe 500 spot head, thereby converting it into a spotlight.

Popular among night divers
Big Blue is a well-known maker of high-quality dive lights, and their Big Blue AL12000NP-II model is popular among night divers. This torch produces a soothing but bright light at its lowest power setting, which may last up to 20 hours. The battery life of this torch makes it a fantastic backup light, and I recommend pairing it with a wide-beam torch like the Mares torch EOS 20Rz.
