Owning an acoustic piano may be rather costly if you like playing it. In fact, since it is so large, most individuals do not have the room to handle it. Manufacturers are now sampling sounds from the greatest acoustic pianos to create wonderful consoles known as digital pianos, owing to technological advancements. They have a grand piano-like tone. They also include other sounds such as electric piano sounds, metronomes, various grand piano sounds, songs and demos, and other features. As you explore purchasing a digital piano, there are various variables to consider. Your budget is one of them. If you’re a novice or just want something affordable, a model under 1000 bucks is a smart choice. Here are the best digital piano keyboard under $1000!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is it worth buying a digital piano?

Going digital offers several benefits, including the flexibility to transport your new instrument more quickly, the opportunity to use digital piano headphones for quiet practice, and the space-saving aspect of these pianos. Most major manufacturers have discarded huge onboard screens in favor of the ability to control your piano’s sounds and settings through a remote mobile app, reducing expenses.

Do digital pianos have different sounds?

These days, sampling technology is better than ever, and digital pianos may sound practically indistinguishable from the genuine thing because of enhanced polyphony. Most digital pianos come with a variety of sounds, such as stings and electric pianos, that may be stacked alongside the piano sound to play concurrently or separated so that each hand can play a distinct sound.

Can I use headphones with a beginner digital piano?

Yes! The opportunity to rehearse with a pair of headphones is one of the most significant benefits of turning digital. A headphone output, in addition to built-in speakers, is essential so that you may securely practice to your heart’s content while the rest of the family does their own thing.

What is a digital piano?

Simply described, a digital piano is a keyboard that uses digital sampling technology to simulate the feel and sound of an acoustic piano. A digital piano, unlike a conventional keyboard, features full-sized weighted keys and concentrates on a few exceptional piano voices rather than a large bank of sounds.

Vintage Style Home Piano

price from

Our opinion:

This piano is tiny and compact, taking up little room in your house or music room. A vintage-style cabinet with a matching seat is also included with the digital piano. As a result, it gives the appearance that you are performing on a grand piano. It also has a triple-pedal system, an 88-key keyboard, and Casio’s Tri-Sensor hammer mechanism, which is used on the majority of their keyboards. A music stand, a key cover, and a dependable and simple-to-use user interface are all included with the digital piano. The PX860 is the digital piano to purchase if you want a digital piano with a higher degree of realism. Casio took note-by-note samples from a concert grand piano. The piano also has a touch response feature that identifies how the player pushes each note at three different sensitivity levels. The piano also has 18 instrument tones, a record feature, a split function, a duet function, inbuilt speakers, two headphone connectors, and layering possibilities.

Promising review:

I love this piano. I put the stand together by myself with no problem. Got some help lifting the main piano onto the stand. I've been playing it a lot and I love it. The sound is much better than I expected. I'm really happy with it.

The SP280BK has 30 fascinating sounds, including genuine acoustic and electronic piano tones. Organ, synth, harpsichord, electric piano, strings, and many more instruments are featured. Promising review:

My daughter wanted a keyboard for her college apartment. This keyboard has been wonderful for her. She likes that it is has a full range of keys with a wonderful touch/feel/stroke and immediate sound results. And while all the bells and whistles were not needed, they are a lot of fun and add to the experience.

Our opinion:

The sleek design of this keyboard is the first thing you’ll notice. It takes up little room, making it easy to transport from one location to another and from one concert to the next. The piano has 88 semi-weighted keys that are suited for novices, as well as a large yet simple user interface. Each button has a distinct purpose, and they all have LED lights that illuminate when certain functionalities are activated. This keyboard does not disappoint when it comes to sound. The maker provides the option of utilizing either the internal piano sounds or external piano sounds through USB MIDI. Additionally, the piano comes with synthesizers, organs, drum kits, guitars, basses, and a variety of other instrument sounds. You can layer sounds, break them up, and apply effects like phrasing and reverb.

Promising review:

Just getting started with this keyboard. So far, the keybed feels good to me, not heavily weighted like many of my other boards. I really like the sounds that come pre-loaded. They're useful and well constructed.

88 Key Digital Piano Keyboard

Entry-level Digital Piano

price from
$229.99
Our opinion:

This is a reasonably priced piano with a good range of functions for beginners. Professional musicians are unlikely to use them on stage, but for those just starting started, it’s an excellent method to evaluate whether the piano is the right instrument for you. One of the main advantages is that this piano is quite light and portable, allowing you to carry it to band sessions or other events if necessary. The Alesis Recital is a keyboard with 88 keys and touches sensitivity that may be customized to your playing style. It connects to MIDI through USB, allowing you to record your performance or connect to other apps. The 20W speakers are powerful, and there are even some built-in effects. It is clearly an entry-level product, yet it is ideal for some people.

Promising review:

i had to upgrade my 10 year old daughter's keyboard to one that has all 88 keys and she loves it. The keys are definitely heavier and the quality is excellent. She now has all the keys she needs to practice her music.

Our opinion:

This piano has everything you’ll need as a beginner and is also suitable for those with more advanced skills. Casio’s AiR (Acoustic and Intelligent Resonator) technology, which is meant to generate realistic sounds sampled from grand pianos, is responsible for the sampled sounds. A hammer action and even textured keys, which mimic ebony and ivory pianos from the past, add to the true piano experience. It just weighs 26 pounds, making it an extremely light piano that you can carry to concerts or wherever else you choose to play. For a more upright piano’ feel, pair it with a furniture stand. Beginners and experienced musicians both like the ease of use and portability of this Casio piano, as seen by the positive Privia PX-160 reviews.

Promising review:

I’ve been playing piano for over 30 years and am in awe of this Digital piano. I have an upright Steinway piano and have been looking for a portable digital piano to practice on for years that would not disturb my neighbors. The action and feel is astonishing. I played many different brands before purchasing and in my opinion nothing comes close at many times the cost. Highly recommended.

Budget Friendly Weighted Piano

Our opinion:

The P71 has a somewhat different keyboard “feel.” It offers a more intricate interface than some of the other alternatives, as well as over 10 distinct sounds that may be layered. Combine sounds, connect directly to your laptop through USB to MIDI, and take this on the road with ease thanks to the lightweight and small design. It’s unquestionably one of the greatest digital pianos available for around $500.

Promising review:

Love it. Keys feel like a real piano. The pictures are the close ups of the two sets of options you have. Includes metronome function. The headphones jack in the back is for large headphones and does not fit small ones like ipod earbuds. The volume can go very low. Very, very satisfied.

Digital Piano with Teaching Mode

Our opinion:

This piano is more of a permanent fixture than any other piano since it is meant to be maintained in one location. It weighs more than 100 pounds, so it’s not too difficult to put up, but you definitely don’t want to bring it to every performance. That said, it’s a fantastic digital piano for the house. The Lagrima has a teaching mode, the ability to record and track your performance, reverb and chorus effects, and all three piano pedals. Other features like MIDI and USB compatibility, built-in speakers, and twin headphone connections are also included. With 960 tones, you’ll have a vast variety of instrument sounds at your fingers for a very low price.

Promising review:

I bought this for my teenager to learn to play piano. Great value! Keys look and feel more like piano keys than electric keyboard keys. The sound is great and he especially likes that he can turn the volume up or down so can practice any time. I am very happy with this purchase.

Korg
B1 88 Key Digital Piano

Rich Sound Digital Piano

price from
$308.99
Our opinion:

Many artists are familiar with Korg because of their synthesizers and recording equipment, but they also make some fantastic digital pianos. The B1 is an excellent example of this, offering a high-quality piano with an 88-key weighted keyboard for less than $1000. Their eight inbuilt sounds have been digitally captured with extreme precision. This is paired with “MFB Servo technology” to provide a rich sound that may be boosted further with Korg effects. Reverb and Chorus are available on this piano. The hammer action that Korg has developed feels fantastic and is extremely similar to that of acoustic pianos. When you play this manufacturer’s instruments, you can sense their class. This piano is also really attractive. It’s easy to use and doesn’t have any distracting control panels. The B1 has a sleek design that is available in black or white to match your home’s style.

Promising review:

Really happy with this keyboard. Perfect for teaching lessons as the board splits into two equal keyboards side by side. Tried it out in store and it sounded way better than the Yamaha and Roland at the same price! Plus it came with a music rest attachment. Very nice and compact without sacrificing good looks.

ES110 Portable Digital Piano

Acoustic Digital Piano

price from
$699.00
Our opinion:

This piano is incredibly light and portable, making it simple to transport to performances or rehearsals. The sound quality is not compromised as a result of its portability. The tone derives from a smart sampling technique that combines “harmonic imaging” and other resonance-based effects with only high-quality genuine grand piano sounds. The ultimate product is a piano that sounds virtually identical to an acoustic piano but without transportation issues. There are a total of 19 sounds, eight of which are based on acoustic pianos. The 88 weighted keys provide a superb acoustic feel, so you can easily switch between the two if you play an acoustic piano at home and only want to take the ES110 on the road with you. This piano also has an X-shaped stand, which is ideal for bringing on stage.

Promising review:

I watched way too many reviews online before buying this. Looking for a lightweight decent practice rig to take on vacation. Hope to keep my classical form in shape. This feels and sounds good with the headphones. I had to make a triple petal to go with. But managed that so all good now.

KeyLab 88 MIDI/USB

MIDI Controller Digital Keyboard

price from
$999.00
Our opinion:

Although the Arturia KeyLab 88 is a MIDI controller rather than a digital piano, it can perform the same functions when used in conjunction with a laptop. This makes it an excellent alternative for pianists who already record and modify their sounds on a computer. Though it can not make sounds on its own due to the MIDI controller element, it does come with the UVI Acoustic Grand Piano instrument, which samples a Steinway grand piano and can be triggered using your computer. If you have a good music laptop, this will be simple to set up and operate, as well as dependable enough for live performances. You can build up a number of various sounds to trigger from other instruments and DAWs using encoders, faders, and even assignable buttons. This means you may have fade-in and fade-out background tracks, as well as percussive sounds and loops, all from one easy workstation.

Promising review:

This keyboard would be a great value even without the soft synths that can be downloaded for it. It is light weight compared to the weighted key boards I've used in the past and all the controls are very easy to access.
