Hi-hats may make a significant difference in the overall sound of your drum set. The overall feel of grooves will be established by the tone of your hi-hat drum. Having said that, different genres necessitate the use of distinct tones. In this article, we’ll take a look at some of the best cymbals for hip-hop music. What are they? Let’s have a look at this piece.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Are cymbals easy?

Crash cymbals seem to be simple to knock together, but they are far from it. This air pressure makes it difficult for the musician to play nice and loud. When we want to produce some noise, we must first smash the fronts of the two cymbals together and then push them together to generate the sound.

Are cymbals hard to play?

Crash cymbals need more technique than meets the eye, but once the fundamentals are established, it is a simple instrument to play. There is very little fast playing, and the sections are not difficult to perform. When visuals are added to the marching band, the crash cymbals become more difficult to play.

What makes a cymbal good?

As a general rule, the thicker the cymbal, the higher the pitch will be on the scale. Especially if you play a lot of rock music, a thicker cymbal may be more suited to endure the thunderous crashes of the song than a thinner cymbal (although the latter has more flexibility).

Are cymbals important?

Cymbals such as crash, ride, splash, china, and hi-hat are all crucial tools for drummers. They come in a variety of weights and sizes and provide a wide range of musical possibilities. They are crucial in the creation of drum beats, the accentuation of sections, and the establishing of the musical atmosphere.

14" A New Beat HiHats - Pair

Our opinion:

Their lengthy wash makes them ideal for crushing during booming choruses. With the brilliant chick sound when closed, you’ve got a winner. The favorite feature of these hi-hats is their huge musical repute. We have seen so many drummers utilize them, and they’re a favorite among studio producers. These hats are bright, so they may stand out too much if you want a musical, washy tone across your cymbals.

Promising review:

Zildjian A's are back!! The re-designed A line is amazing. I bought 14" New Beats and played them for the first time at a gig. I am in love....yes...in love. Sweet sounding Hihats.

Our opinion:

Meinl’s Classic Custom Dark hi-hats are distinctive in that they are priced halfway between high-end and low-end cymbals. They provide a high-end sound for a very specific purpose: aggressive playing. Overall, they’re a fantastic choice if you’re seeking for low-cost hi-hats that will readily cut through mixes. Many reviews tells that they will never forget how inexpensive the Classics Custom Dark cymbals are.

Promising review:

Awesome Hihats! Bright chirpy sound when closed. Clear and defined slosh with amazing overtones when open. The Finish is way cooler than pictured, its a black and gold coloration. looks sick!

Wonderful Quality Wonderful Price

Our opinion:

They’re the cheapest Zildjian cymbals that don’t have harsh tones. These 14 inch hi-hats are a good value for money set of cymbals. The bottom hat is jagged, generating a strong chick sound when the hi-hats are closed. Playing additional cymbals with the left foot while keeping rhythm. These hi-hats are a wonderful upgrade from entry-level cymbals.

Promising review:

Have a real nice sound to them for the price I paid. The S series seems to be a really good quality symbol for the price if you’re looking to not spend a lot of money on cymbals!

13” Hihat (Hi Hat) Cymbal Pair

Pro Players Choice

Our opinion:

They have a bright, articulate tone. Fast notes will be heard clearly, making them ideal for drummers with quick hands. The bright tone and clear sound are ideal for styles like trap and drum & bass with frequent hi-hat patterns. These hi-hats are universally useful, making them a must-have on any best hi-hat list. In order to obtain the greatest sound, you have to play them forcefully. That’s the major reason pro players don’t use them as primary hi-hats. They don’t open up well when played delicately.

Promising review:

been drumming for 20+ years. Had my higher end cymbals on 2 different sets and needed a cheap pair for a 3rd practice set. I really dig the sound and quality for the price. Perfect for what I wanted in the price rage and didn’t sacrifice too much quality or sound. May not sound like a higher end but at this price it is worth it.

15" K Sweet HiHats

Highly Worth for Any Aspects

price from
$539.95
Our opinion:

They have a dark tone with a deep personality and a musical essence. This essentially means that you can get more sounds out of these hats with dynamic playing than you would with cheaper hi-hats. Because these are high-end hi-hats, they are somewhat expensive. However, you’ll be playing them for years and won’t be able to stop. As a result, they’re well worth the money.

Promising review:

These are the best Zildjian high hats I own, and I own six pair. They're soft and buttery, and definitely fit the name "sweet." The service from the seller was superb, and they arrived a day earlier than promised. All in all, another great experience from Amazon & Zildjian.

AAX 14" X-Plosion Hi-Hat Cymbals

Bright Pair Wonderful Grooving Sound

price from
$419.99
Our opinion:

These Sabian AAX X-Plosion hi-hats have a wonderful grooving sound. The bright tone cuts readily through mixes and is perfect for crisp accents. The cymbals have a wide frequency range depending on where they are hit. Many people adore how they sound when you tap the shoulder with the stick. The resulting harsher tone emphasizes the hi-hats’ aggression. They have a traditional shiny cymbal finish with a glassy shimmer. So, if you want a bright pair of hi-hats with a cymbal vibe, they are a terrific choice.

Promising review:

These hats are by far the best that I have ever played! They are well worth the money. Sound is crisp and solid. You won't have trouble being heard, and the sound is fantastic!

Our opinion:

Before Alesis, only Yamaha and Roland had the major leagues. As a result, Alesis is now surprisingly affordable. The cymbal pad is known for its precise calibration. They’re straightforward to use and increase the capabilities of an electronic drum kit. This complicated percussion instrument might be a wonderful place to start if you need to generate beautiful sounds.

Promising review:

Pretty decent. Use the top of this cymbal as another cymbal in your kit and use the existing hi-hat pad to go on top of this...

Must Pick! Boost Your Performance With This One

price from

Our opinion:

When picking the best goods, always check the brand. As well as Roland is always a winner. Roland’s unique ideas have shaped the field of electronic drums for many years. Their products are capable of delivering unbelievable consequences. The cymbal has an authentic weight and a natural feel. Its dual-trigger zone is incomparable. It may automatically react to even little differences in performance. Its characteristics include choking sensor, cymbal play, and forceful impacts.

Promising review:

Very happy that I purchased this cymbal! It has a good amount of dynamic expression and is a lot of fun to play on. Only downside is the bell can be somewhat tricky to activate. You just have to be a little more precise with your playing when using it.

Conclusion

As a drummer, your hi-hats are your most crucial cymbals. You could perform a show with only those, a snare, and a bass drum. It’s critical to think carefully about which hi-hats to use. You’ll be playing them the most, so you should enjoy how they sound. If you’re looking for the best hi-hats for your needs and are willing to pay a high price for them, know that the high price will ensure that they last a long time and serve you well at every gig. If you purchase lower-priced cymbals, you may find that you want to upgrade in the future. As a drummer, you can never have too much gear! Enjoy picking!
