UNO Family Card Game

Competitive Card Game

Our opinion:

The ultimate card game, UNO, is a classic that has stood the test of time. It’s fun to play, easy to learn, tiny, and appropriate for individuals of all ages. Because it is loved by both adults and children, this game is a must-have for every collection. It’s short and basic, yet it can be played again and over without becoming old. When you’re down to a single card, who doesn’t like the excitement of yelling “Uno!” or catching another player before they can do so?

Promising review:

This is probably the best ORIGINAL set I would buy for myself and even friends and family. The tin that holds the cards and instruction manual in is very durable and nice. It does take a little more space than the original cardboard box packaging but it is very well worth it. It's not too heavy either but keeps the cards nice and protective if you were to drop the pack or spill something onto it. I also counted all the cards that it came with it I had the exact amount of cards for each color and special as claimed. Besides that, it's UNO! Who doesn't like UNO?!

SKIP BO Card Game

Simple Card Game

price from
$4.84
Our opinion:

SkipBo is another card game that many people like since it is simple to learn and play. You’re aiming to be the first to play all of the cards in your stack, much as in other family card games. Because you may have many piles in front of you to position up your cards before playing them to the center, it requires more preparation than Uno. It’s also straightforward to play the cards since they’re stacked in sequence from low to high. Nothing beats playing a number of cards in a row and then flipping over the next card in your stack and having it exactly match up with what’s available.

Promising review:

My husband and I are senior citizens. I wish I could buy by the 6 pack as we go through these over time. We play every other day and it's so much fun. Of course, there i some random luck involved, but there is strategy in how you manage your piles and judging when to play and when to hold back. I love that two people can play (not true with many games) and we travel with this and play in doctor's offices and in airports.

Our opinion:

It’s a terrific game that works best with a larger number of people. The judge plays a green card with a single word on it for that round. The other players place a card face down on the table from their hand that they believe is similar to the word on the green card. The judge for that round then lays out all of the played cards and chooses the best one, awarding a point to the player who played that card. The junior version follows the same rules as the adult version, but the text on the cards are considerably easier for children to understand.

Promising review:

I got this for my sons for Christmas so we could all play it as a family. It only took a few minutes for them to catch on and start loving the game. They ask to play it all the time now. I'm all for it - if your kids butt heads at home this is a great activity where getting along is effortless. Also, I see prior reviews mentioning this arriving in a brown box. You need to open the brown box to remove the green game box. I'd say those reviews are unjustified. The game inside the box is exactly what you expect, you literally just need to open it.

Our opinion:

Phase 10 is a rummy-style game in which you strive to finish all ten phases first. You must play cards in a certain order for each phase of the game, such as sets and runs. You play in rounds, and if you finish a phase’s requirements during a round, you’ll advance to the following round’s phase. However, if someone else plays all of their cards before you finish the phase, you’ll have to repeat the phase again during the following round (while others have moved on).

Promising review:

About a month ago I was introduced to this game; we (friends) played until after 1:00 a.m. and did not want to quit. I am fascinated by the game, and although there is some luck involved, there is a lot of room for strategy. After the evening I could not wait to buy my own deck. It is not a children's game, but I suppose teenagers would certainly be happy to play it. Shuffling by hand is a little tricky due to the number of cards and I suggest one purchase a mechanical shuffler with your deck. It is a fun game! TMc

Racko Card Game

Interactive Card Game

$69.95
Our opinion:

Racko is one of the most popular card games for families. It’s easy to learn, suitable for both children and adults, based on a combination of chance and strategy, and includes lots of player interaction. The player involvement is, in fact, one of the finest aspects about it. There’s something satisfying about altering the card order in your opponent’s rack. Of again, retaliation is fair play, so you never know when you’ll get your due.

Promising review:

My 9, 11, 15 year old and I all enjoy playing this together. It is a rare treat to find something that fit all of our age ranges. It is nice to play together when we don't have time for a full length board game like Monopoly. Each hand takes about 10 - 15 minutes, allowing you to stop whenever you need to or continue on until a winner has accumulated a set number of points. The only skill needed is to be able to put cards #1 - 60 in sequential order. There is some strategy, but that comes quickly. Surprisingly, the 9 year old frequently beats us.

Go Fish Classic Card Game

Children Card Game

price from
$7.60
Our opinion:

Go Fish is a “must-have” card game for the younger members of your household. At its most basic level, Go Fish is a matching card game in which players must guess what their opponents have instead of matching by sight. There are many various Go Fish card decks (different animals, alphabet, characters, seasons, and so on), so choose one that your children will like and begin playing with them while they are small. It’s amazing to see the excitement on your small child’s face when they have to “go fishing” and pull the card they were searching for.

Promising review:

This is perfect for our 3 year old who is newly obsessed with games. The pictures are cute and easy to distinguish. A few seem to be outside common toddler knowledge (squid vs octopus) but she picked up on them fast and the game ended up being a quick way for her to learn some ocean vocab! The card quality is high, a friend's 1 year old tried to fold a card and it would only bend - although the card has yet to recover from the trauma. All in all a great buy.

No Thanks! Card Game

Engaging Card Game

1  visitors like this
price from

Our opinion:

No Thanks! is a basic card game with a lot of replayability. Players have two choices for each turn: 1. Place one of their chips on the table to avoid taking up the current face-up card, or 2. Turn over the next card and pick up the face-up card (together with any chips that have previously been played on that card). The decisions aren’t that simple, however, since players are competing for the lowest score at the conclusion of the game. So the major question is whether it’s worth it to pick up the card you truly need, even if it means spending more chips. It’s surprising that a game with such a nice name should generate so much anguish.

Promising review:

No Thanks! is a great little game. It's a very simple game to be sure, yet there's actually quite a bit of strategy involved in the game. Don't sell this game short even though it's inexpensive! I think my favorite part is the versatility of this game. I can play this with family members who aren't into heavier board games, but I can also use this game with my gaming friends who ARE into the gaming hobby as a quick 15 minute experience that's satisfying. With how quick games are and how eager people are to play it again (this is a "just one more..." game), No Thanks! has seen a LOT of play with the folks I know. Give it a shot!

Tactical Card Game

price from
$31.49
Our opinion:

Dominion is a card game in which you construct a deck of cards. Your resources, victory points, and actions are all listed on the deck. It begins as a pitiful collection of Estates and Coppers, but you hope that by the conclusion of the game, it will be bursting at the seams with Gold, Provinces, and your kingdom’s residents and constructions. Dominion is a thrilling tactical game with a wide range of challenges. You’ll notice how tense the gaming feelings are if you play it with your family.

Promising review:

We learned this game over Christmas and let me say its sooooo fun. It changes play every time you play especially with add on extensions because the action cards rotate always making you decide about your strategy. Unlike Catan or other type games, turns go really fast and the game surprisingly is over before you know it. Want to play again? is always the follow-up echoed by the players.....

Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards Game

Fantasy Duel Card Game

price from

Our opinion:

Yu-Gi-Oh is a turn-based card game in which two players try to beat each other by utilizing a collection of monster, spell, and trap cards to reduce their opponent’s Life Points (down to 0). Each card in the deck has a unique influence on the game. Playing this game not only improves your ability to remember cards but also puts your logical thinking to the test as your opponent employs numerous techniques. Finally, it’s a competitive card game that you may play with your family/friends.

Promising review:

This is a great product to start with. I haven't really played the game for a very long time. I wanted to get back into it but I needed to start somewhere since I have long given my cards away. This product has everything you need to start. Would recommend to those who are trying to get into dueling as a start.

Conclusion

These are the most entertaining but complex card games to play with your family, friends, or maybe even a partner. Purchase one to spice up your night rather of just watching a movie. Keep in mind that some of these games may irritate or even break your friendship with the opposite player (just kidding). Finally, simply purchase one and start playing!
