SKIP BO Card Game

Simple Card Game

price from
$4.84
Our opinion:

Many people like SkipBo because it is an easy card game to learn and play. Similar to other family card games, you want to be the first to play all of the cards in your stack. It takes more planning than Uno since you may have many stacks in front of you to place your cards before playing them to the center. The cards are also easy to play since they’re arranged in order from low to high. Nothing surpasses playing a string of cards and then turning over the next card in your stack and having it perfectly fit what’s available. This game is fun to do while camping.

Promising review:

My husband and I are senior citizens. I wish I could buy by the 6 pack as we go through these over time. We play every other day and it's so much fun. Of course, there i some random luck involved, but there is strategy in how you manage your piles and judging when to play and when to hold back. I love that two people can play (not true with many games) and we travel with this and play in doctor's offices and in airports.

Phase 10 Card Game

Phase Clearing Card Game

price from
$5.99
Our opinion:

Phase 10 is a rummy-style game in which you compete to be the first to complete all ten stages. For each phase of the game, such as sets and runs, you must play cards in a certain sequence. You play in rounds, and if you complete all of the criteria for a phase within a round, you will progress to the next round’s phase. However, if someone else plays all of their cards before you complete the phase, you’ll have to go through it again the next round (while others have moved on).

Promising review:

About a month ago I was introduced to this game; we (friends) played until after 1:00 a.m. and did not want to quit. I am fascinated by the game, and although there is some luck involved, there is a lot of room for strategy. After the evening I could not wait to buy my own deck. It is not a children's game, but I suppose teenagers would certainly be happy to play it. Shuffling by hand is a little tricky due to the number of cards and I suggest one purchase a mechanical shuffler with your deck. It is a fun game! TMc

Fill in the Blank Card Game

price from
$25.00
Our opinion:

This game became a cult favorite almost immediately after its release. It’s hilarious, dirty (at least in some ways), and never gets old to play. A black card is used to pose a question, and everyone answers with their most humorous white cards, making it basically a fill-in-the-blank party game. This game also fits to do while camping. Bonus points: you may purchase additional packs of cards if you become weary of the original cards in the classic game. It has the potential to spiral out of control.

Promising review:

As a 22 year old, I love this game. I have had it for a few years and still enjoy breaking it out with my friends. However, KNOW YOUR GROUP. I would not recommend playing it with your conservative elders or children. Many mature themes and words are used. I enjoy the game best with friends or family in my generation. I have bought a few expansion packs as well. They are great for when you have played multiple times and have seen all the cards more than once. I recommend buying the original game to start and adding expansions to keep it fresh after multiple plays.

SNAP Card Game

Easy Card Game

price from
$24.47
Our opinion:

For campers, it’s a simple card game. This game takes a regular 52-card deck and at least two players. To begin, the dealers will distribute the whole deck to the players. The participants would alternate turning the cards over. The players may yell snap in the game after they have flipped over the card with the same rank.

Promising review:

Played with a 9 year old and a 6 year old. I'm just old. We all had fun. :) There are several game options for different ages. We just tried the easiest one this time, and enjoyed that the game came out differently each time. This is basically a puzzle with rules! We were learning about South Korea and the symbolic tiger and dragon in that culture. Since both are in this game, it related perfectly!

Gin Rummy Card Game

Excellent Card Game for All Age

price from
$18.95
Our opinion:

Although this card game is enjoyable for adults, it is ideally suited for children aged eight and above. The goal of the game is to create melds using either runs of the same suit of ranks or cards. 3, 3, 3, or 2h, 3h, 4h, or 5h is a nice illustration. To begin, each player will be dealt nine cards face down. The remaining cards will be placed in the middle. The top card from the middle pile will be flipped over. From then, the first player on the dealer’s left will choose either the card face up in the middle or the first card from the top half of the deck. As soon as you make melds, you must lay them down. The first person to dodge all of the cards wins.

Promising review:

Got the Gin rummy card deck to play with our son, who 11. It took us a total of one round to learn the rules. Easy to learn and explain to kids, he caught on immediately. We have been playing the game almost every day since! This is a great way to get kids thinking, and a great way to spend family time. Definitely adding it to our "Family Night" collection!

Imperial Kids Crazy Eights

Hilarious Card Game

price from
$6.92
Our opinion:

This is a popular card game that everyone enjoys. In Crazy Eights, the goal is to play the cards in your hand first. The dealer of cards will then give each player eight cards face down to begin. The wild card is the 8, while the twos and fours compel the following player to pick up two and miss a turn, respectively. The Queen of Spades will also compel the opponent to choose eight cards.

Promising review:

I would consider this a matching card game. I recently played this with my younger cousin and had a lot of fun. The basic idea of the game is you are trying to get rid of the cards in your hand first. After cards are dealt one card is placed face up in the middle, players take turns either matching the suit or number of that card until someone goes out. If you can't match the card when your turn comes up you draw a card from the spare pile until you can play something. 8's are wild and can be placed on anything. It's a good game for helping kids identify numbers and suits.

Slapping Card Game

price from

Our opinion:

Adults, teenagers, and children will enjoy this card game. At your campground, have everyone sit in a circle. Without glancing at the decks, everyone holds their cards facedown. Every player takes a card from the top of the deck and sets it in the circle’s center. Each player proceeds to place their cards in the middle of the table. If a person slaps a card wrongly, the top card in her or his pile shall be given to the player who slapped the card.

Exciting Kid's Card Game

Our opinion:

Even if it’s pouring outside, you can still claim to have gone fishing if you carry a deck of cards with you. The game of Go Fish has been played by almost everyone at some time in their life, and the rules are universal. The Go Fish rules are simple enough for even tiny children to understand. It’s a camping card game that would be more popular if the majority of the participants were children. Go Fish is best played with 2 to 5 people.

Promising review:

Just got this card set for my 3 year old niece as a gift. It brought back memories from when I played this game all the time as a kid. The packaging and cards are really good quality! I like that the box closes shut with a small velcro circle which helps to take the cards on the go while traveling. I got this for her so she can build on learning her numbers, her cognitive development with pattern association and visual memory.

UNO Family Card Game

Intense Card Game

$9.99
Our opinion:

UNO, the ultimate card game, has proven to be a timeless favorite. It’s a lot of fun to play, it’s simple to learn, it’s little, and it’s suitable for people of all ages. This game is a must-have for every collection since it is enjoyed by both adults and children. It’s simple and short, yet it can be played again and over again without becoming boring. Who doesn’t like the thrill of exclaiming “Uno!” or catching another player before they can do so when they’re down to a single card? While playing them during camp, you can sense the tension!

Promising review:

This is probably the best ORIGINAL set I would buy for myself and even friends and family. The tin that holds the cards and instruction manual in is very durable and nice. It does take a little more space than the original cardboard box packaging but it is very well worth it. It's not too heavy either but keeps the cards nice and protective if you were to drop the pack or spill something onto it. I also counted all the cards that it came with it I had the exact amount of cards for each color and special as claimed. Besides that, it's UNO! Who doesn't like UNO?!

Conclusion

These are the most entertaining but complex card games to play with your family, friends, or maybe even a partner. Purchase one to spice up your night rather than just watching a movie. Keep in mind that some of these games may irritate or even break your friendship with the opposite player (just kidding). Finally, simply purchase one and start playing!
