I've worn this as a shell running in rainstorms in California and Vancouver, and in -35C winter conditions in Ottawa, Canada. It's so perfect! You can fold it into it's own storage pocket - it's so easy to throw in your park when the weather looks like it could change. And it's SO light, keeps you warm, and is breathable. I'm 5'7", 130 lbs, usually a size 6 with broad shoulders and long arms, and the small size fits perfectly. It's the best lightweight shell ever. Ever.

You already wrote down the itinerary for your trip to Scotland, and you plan to do many things there. You want to hike, trail, fishing, and on and on. This jacket is a great choice for you. You can wear this jacket for any occasion. The design making it friendly for your outdoor activities. It also has vibrant and colorful colors in its sleeve. Fantastic!

I have been using my jacket both in city (Vancouver with rain!!) and in the mountains. It does its job pretty well. I wish it had more pockets. Especially in mountains having waterproof pockets are essentials. The pockets are really good to keep the hands crossed and keep them warm but I think that's not practical. Other than that, it is a great product.

Yes, it is 9, not 6. The whole pockets will be your great joy, you no longer need to dig deeper into your backpack. A lovely holiday in Scotland!

I purchased my last Simms technical rain jacket in 2004 for a trip to Patagonia Chile, it kept me dry during that trip, and it is still going strong today. I upgraded to the new G4 last month and put the old jacket in the rental fleet for my clients. The new G4 has exceeded all my expectations of what a rain jacket should do. Better fit and range of motion, 100% waterproof, functional hood that doesn't hamper my vision, and plenty of extra pockets. Only time will tell if it is bombproof, but if the old jacket lasted 16 years, I have a feeling the G4 will go 30 years. After long hours exploring the land of Scotland, sometimes you will encounter an unpleasant situation such as you are getting damp and sweat all over your body since you need to wear a jacket. This jacket will be your good companion, it has two-way armpit zip vents to let out heat escape from your body. You can feel the wind through it to refresh your inner layers.

Love this jacket. Don't have much faith in using Goretex in the pacific north west but this is a good as I have ever got! Nice streamlined fit. Lightweight. Only thing I'd like is a pocket in the sleeve or in the upper chest as the lower pockets are hard t access when you're wearing a hit belt. love this jacket though just as it is. have a great red colour. Hoping they'll make this in other bright colours for women....

The trail is your fancy activity and that is one of your purposes to go to Scotland. Obviously, you need an outwear that will give you good protection from unpredictable weather but also you want it to fully support your wide-range of movements when you trail in Scotland. This jacket has articulated elbows for your great movement and enjoyment!

The raincoat is made incredibly nice. My wife has taken it and she loves it. In her words , its comftorable and she stays dry in the rain . It looks nice on her and fits her perfectly . The good is not to large or to small . She was looking for a new rain jacket and this was just right .

One of the top quality of this rain jacket is such a good windbreaker jacket. As for the protection from the rain, you will never catch a glimpse of water drop piercing to your body since this jacket offers good protectiveness. As for the hood, regardless it is not detachable, you can roll it if you feel not in need it or don’t want it to be visible during your sunshine days in Scotland.

Today, shopping for a raincoat for my daughter, I was reminded how great this jacket has been. I've had it for 5 or 6 years as my main 3 season jacket. It still looks brand new, in spite of having been skiing, fell walking (and scree sliding) in the Lake District, to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro, and through multiple Cleveland winters. It fits well over a fleece or down vest to make it work most of the year. It travels small and well and repels water as efficiently today as when it was new. If you wear it in significant rain you will want rain pants, as the drip line falls at front pocket level (where I tend to keep my phone). This is a terrific product.

So if you plan to go sightseeing the hills in Scotland, the chilly breeze won’t disturb you anymore.

I used this through our shoot in Lyngen this past April, where we experienced all kinds of weather from rain to snow storms and this was the perfect jacket for it. Not having to put it under your shell when it's rainy really makes a huge difference in how efficient you are out there.

Do you want to embark on hiking in Scotland this summer? You will need this rain jacket. The shell of this jacket made of 2 layers of Gore-Tex fabrics, which is very nice to keep away the cold from intervening in your hiking days. The adjustable cuff with thumbholes is the best way to repel water, wind, or even snow.

I actually really enjoy the jacket but I have found that Wind gets through the jacket more then I would like for a Gore-Tex product. It does a killer job of blocking out moisture and fits really well. I am going to invest in a insulated jacket for the Wind issues and I have already picked up the 3 layer Gore-Tex option from Dakine. I would recommend having proper under layers but aside from that I am digging it!
